I'm trying to make a little rally driving level. I took a car entity and changed its FPE file to be ischaracter = 1 and isthirdperson = 1. I attached it to the Player Marker and it works quite well. However, for some reason there is no texture (see attached). The texture appears in the editor but not in Test Game.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.
Julian

What shader have you got applied to the model? I am guessing the car isn't skinned, so, if you are using characterbasic.fx, the model will appear to have no texture. You will need to use entitybasic.fx.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Jay.

Many thanks, Jay. However, it's still not showing a texture in Test Game mode.

Im not really a heavy modeller I just tend to mess about but I did read somewhere either the model had to have a bone or the texture had to be attached to one to make the texture visible .... Hence some work and some don't ....Does that make any sense to you ?

Some of the cars in the city pack do show up fine

Is it using multiple textures? Could be that you need to remove the texture reference from the fpe? (I don't know if this would still be the cause if it shows in the editor though)

Which car model are you using lordjulian?

I've not had any issues with the car models in any of the DLC's or store so far. I've also been using the blue car without problems:

The main problem with driving games is there's no way to limit the turn yet, you can do 180 or whatever in very unrealistic time... Kinda breaks the game.

Pole Position! LOL, I could never keep it on the road, either, I was always slamming into the billboards. Great work!

Nice vids! Now everyone vote for car physics I wouldn't want to try to simulate a realistic race game manually!

Once vehicles get to the top spot, we will be using all the cool stuff from Bullet for realistic tyre physics, which means we get to make handbrakes skids, realistic acceleration with tyre spin and then we fly over RAMPS, across MASSIVE CANYONS to land and smash into a PILE OF BOXES. Should be sweet!
