Hi, I'm not really all that new to GG, I've used it a bit but I still consider myself a n00b of sorts. My question is, would TGC ever consider releasing the source code of GG to paying users, or licensing the source code to an outside party. For the former, my idea was to use a system similar to the previous UE4 method; subscribing users were given access to the source code of UE4 through a private Github repo. I was just curious if TGC would ever consider something like this. Or conversely going with the Unity method of simply licensing out the source code for an extra fee. My reasoning being that many of the people who use it are talented developers, allowing them to help build the engine could really speed up times. It also allows them to get the features they want when they want, which would also be a reason to liscense out the code for a fee. Just a thought.

If they were to decide to do so, It would be much later in development when the engine core is more complete. It's still far too early in development, realistically speaking. There's still a lot of underlying framework changes taking place such as C++ conversion and DX upgrade.

Classic FPSC went through a real renaissance when the source was released and modders started doing their things but that wasn't until maybe 2/3 of the way through it's lifecycle.

I wouldn't expect them to even consider it until they are pretty settled and happy with the base product.

As ErrantAI has said, we've no plans at all at present to license or publicly release the source code. If we do, it won't be for a few years.

If you know our product history, the source for much of our in house software has been made available to a certain extent, or we've added the ability to create plugins but at this stage of development it won't be happening for GameGuru.
