Hi all,
I've just created my first custom terrain texture, it renders fine close up, but over longer distances it becomes blocky and then completely white at extreme distances, can anyone help me with this please?

Possible that you need to apply mipmapping to the textures

Thanks for the replies, I'm still having trouble though.

I forgot to mention that I'm using Photoshop and the nVidia developer plugins, I've uploaded images of the options I was using so maybe that'll help, I'm still new when it comes to the this stuff, but I am trying!

Nathan

Are you deleting superpalette.ter between each revision test?

I can't say exactly what it's for but it seems to affect texture LOD and having a miss-matched one can cause some odd artifacts.

Also, don't use DXT1. Using DXT5 will give a better result. It could be the DXT1 4-bit clamp contributing to that as well.

Also, as a side note, don't forget that the alpha channels are what control the specular level of the terrain.

Hi Errant,
Thanks for your reply! I remade the textures using DXT5, there was no change. I should also say that the textures I'm using are 4K textures, could it be something to do with that? Also, interestingly, I've attached an image of the latest test I did, the only texture that appears with the black blocks is the Default texture, the rocky one is fine. I'll continue to fiddle with a couple other things. Thanks for your help!

P.s. after a little fiddle, your weapons look great in GG, do you have anymore in the pipeline?

Regards,
Nathan
