I've never done this kind of thing before, what are some good sound recording devices for use with GG. The ones that don't have any IP restrictions.

i'm not sure if i understood your question but i think when it comes to audio i can suggest this free software (it's not really free, it's a trial version): GOLD WAVE. i use this software for years and i really like it. easy audio (wave) editing and also saves as *.ogg and many other exotic file extensions. i hope this was even the answer to your question

edit:

i hope it's still free. tha last time i downloaded it, it was free.

I do folly work for video games and films. I use a physical Edirol recorder when doing folly work outside. Its best to get a recording device that records in high quality WAV format. Then edit it in a program like audacity.

For indoors I use a mic through a soundboard. I spent over $700 on the rig however. I use it for doing my radio show mostly but also for audio dubbing, commentary, narrating and occasionally sound effects recording.

The best affordable set up would be a simple mic you can plug into your mic jack, headphones and Audacity for editing since its free 100%.

Yeh, that's what I was asking Nuncio, thank you.

I did end up getting the Audacity Teabone, but wouldn't you know it, my computer doesn't even have anywhere to plug a mic in. I recorded several bits of storyline with it and a few pieces of music for a game, but it's just terrible for a game. I might be able to use them for an inside scene where music is coming from a back room in an underground facility that has the door shut. .

Thanks.

It's a cheap laptop, it has USB ports and a head jack, but the mic I have uses a jack, not a USB port. And I'm broke.

I never intended to make games with this computer, but it ended up being all I have to work with at the moment. I'm not even sure the mic is worth buying an adapter for.

Update: I looked it over, and that headjack might be a two way. I'll check it and let you know later if the mic works with it.

Yes, it's a mic/headset combo. I feel like such a goob. I quick checked it with Audacity and it works ok. A lot of white noise though. I'll tinker around with it some more this weekend.

Man, I hope that save/load feature comes soon. I thought I'd be able to pull off a particular type of game without it, but I can't. On to something I can.

Thanks.

Thanks Tarkus, it seems like things are a bit more under control now, it been quite busy the last few days working with all this new software.

I really didn't know this computer had two way jacks Teabone, I knew it was possible because of gaming headsets, but for some reason, I just didn't think this laptop did that. Glad it does though.

We'll see what we come up with.
