Hello

I have a question about visual studio 2015. Will this work on older systems seems to me one of the big points has been that the majority of the people that use guru, don't have the best systems. And that is what you have been laboring to do is to try and make it so that people using the older tech can still use guru. I'm just wondering if i need to have to up grade now which really is not a option. It takes cash to up grade and to be frank i don't have the cash. I understand that guru cont stay in the past and that this is better for guru. I just feel that when you make a decision to up grade maybe you should take a look and see what kind of damage your causing. If this doesn't work on old systems than I think i can say that your going to make some unhappy campers. I feel a lot of people are in the same boat hopefully its not a big deal. And that I will still be able to use guru. Right now guru works very well but, with a 2015 change I'm not sure. Can some one please shed some light on this for me. Thanks very much.

Lee has stated that he wants this to run on GPU's rated at around 750 on the passmark. That still includes quite a few people.

The update to Visual Studio 2015, was to be able to have more tools to optimize the core engine with. also making very compatible for other features. If less bottle necks can be found, then every body wins.

Having a card that is capable of DX 10 and above will keep you in the game for a while, before technology just makes our boat anchors more of a hindrance then a help. Also, holding back the capabilities of the engines progression.

My system is 8 years old and all the upgrades I could put into it. But as nice as it runs, within the next few years, it is just not going to be able to keep up.

Upgrades are relatively cheap in comparison to 8 years ago, and for the same money spent then, you can get 100 times the machine today.

See my specs in the sig below.

so I took the time out to look it for you.

Hardware requirements

1.6 GHz or faster processor
1 GB of RAM (1.5 GB if running on a virtual machine)
5 GB of available hard disk space
5400 RPM hard drive
DirectX 9-capable video card running at 1024 x 768 or higher display resolution

you should have Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or up and you will be fine. as you know Microsoft does not support xp no more so that should be your only worry. that will have nothing to do with guru or Lee at this point and no excuse why anyone should still be using xp when Microsoft is giving Windows 10 for free. also with a concern like this it will help if you put you PC specs up. it is always good to research before assuming the worst. Lee most likely try to push more performance out of guru before we have to do anything on our part. his small tool upgrade is for him to better find any problems now before they get out of hand. so nothing to worry about Lee got everyone cover.
more than what meets the eye.Welcome to SciFi Summer

I think the goal here is the card, gtx being the best, and of course w7 up like state above.
I'm using a good intel card, but not good for GG, always get 16 fps, does not matter the settings I set.
I'm using VS 2013 trial version, plane to get full licence.

5 GB of available hard disk space.

I can confirm that GG will run with less. I regularly am that low (currently just over 3gig left on my hdd) :0 Not good I know, but I've got to the point where I just haven't much to delete, bar games. I'd like to finish them first I really need a new drive soon.

Regarding VS2015, I don't see any issue for old users here. It is just a new IDE to run the C++ code in, with more tools to make it easier. I am surprised it hasn't been done earlier. I have an old system as well, although it does run any game I have thrown at it to date fine. With multi threading running even my old computer will see a big boost in speed. I am looking forward to seeing the newer faster version.

SPECS: Q6600 CPU. Nvidia 660GTX. 8 Gig Memory. Win 7.
