Can anyone explain how you assign the correct footstep sound for specific materials when movng over them.
I only notice this on the Packs that come with GG.
At the moment I have made and imported a Jetty mesh but it sounds like I'm walking on grass when it should be a wooden sound.

Quote: "Entity Material Settings

In the fpe of an entity you can set the material type. So when the player walks on the object or shoots it there will be an appropriate sound or animating response.

The field in the fpe file is called "materialindex". Set it to one of the materials below.

Material Index
0 = GenericSoft
1 = Stone
2 = Metal
3 = Wood
4 = Glass
5 = Liquid Splashy Wet
6 = Flesh (Bloody Organic)
7 = Hollow Drum Metal
8 = Small High Pitch Tin
9 = Small Low Pitch Tin
10 = Silly Material
11 = Marble
12 = Cobble
13 = Gravel
14 = Soft Metal
15 = Old Stone
16 = Old Wood
17 = Shallow Water
18 = Underwater"

Errm it would seem I only have sounds up to 4. None really hit the wood spot.
I take it if i make my own sound of stepping on wood I can put this SFX in a folder somewhere?

In audiobank\materials\*.*

shows all the materials that GG should be using. Not sure if all are being used though...

I have yet to check myself if all are linked to their connect cosponsoring material and index number.

I don't expect any of the underwater stuff to be worked anytime soon, unless the community votes for "swimming feature" work to be done. So the last material item probably doesn't work as it relates to underwater functionality and they haven't touch the underwater system.

Footfall is a critical detail to making a game feel immersive. So hopefully most of the indexes work. Again I have not personally tested.

Teabone help me out here .....
Its obvious that all the features wanted cannot be done at once ....
Not everyone was happy with the way Lee added the features in the sequence he felt was the best way to go.
So a voting system is now going in place ( of course remember the engine is now being re written for multicore etc as we speak ...
( The latest big request ) for the next update ...

So if you feel the voting system is not fair either ...what do you suggest ?
The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..
