That would be interesting to know.
I tried changing it yesterday and no matter what I did, even erasing the one in editor folder....which seems to be the one included in your standalone.....it automagically reappeared as GAME GURU no matter what I re-added it with. Very strange file behavior.

Hello,

I managed to change the icon in the executable compiled trafficker "Resource Hacker"
It is a decompiler bases DLL or an executable.
Very convenient to change a program itself
All the icons are visible and can be changed with this software.
However always made a backup in case of problems !!

Download US Ressource Hacker for Windows 8/8.1 and 10 : http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/

I tried that a few days ago (with resource hacker).
After the change the game not start anymore or crash.
Hopefully this will be possible in the future, directly from the GG menu when u create the standalone.
Old school FPS fan, DOOM!!! Why GG not working on my AMIGA 500?

It should be a dll, instead of an image, so when you run exe file, it call the dll and paint the icon. Usually it is holded in resources file.

If you guys are really going final.........then use iconchanger 3.8 you can download for free and can change the icon on an exe file even if it was embedded 3 times before having to pay for the program.

create your standalone.......then open this program.....choose the standalone exe.......and then choose the replacement icon. be sure to embed your replacement otherwise it wil stay only local.

problem solved. This was tested by me personally today and it worked great

I've never had a problem with Vishnu applying a .ico file to my executable game file. For the record I'm using Vishnu Packer 9.3.

Hi Peregrinus, it only seems to work on files that have already been packed with Vishnu Packer. After it creates your game in the "Packaged Files" folder on your Desktop, you'll notice that your .exe has the Vishnu logo. Now you can run the Icon Changer and replace that with a custom .ico image and your game will still work.

Vishnu packer doesn't work for me, but it is an old version, didn't think it had been updated since I got it... Not bothered changing the icon for anything I have made to date, but the above advice to use a icon editor seems practical enough to me. I will admit generally to never getting to the point of needing to change such things... It's rare for me to get to that stage, lol. I could tweak and polish for England, yet still think the game is not ready. Still, getting back to the point, all you need is an icon editor of some sort.

Hm... I still hope to see a responce from TGC to this topic. Decompiling (what every Icon change program is doing) could be complicated with copyright issues. It would be great to see a clear answer from TGC if decompiling stand alone exe files is alowed or not. If it is, I will try to integrate an icon changer in StyleGuru in September.

I can't see it being an issue myself, but obviously you would want official confirmation of this. TGC recently did a livecast on changing the title screens and such not long ago, so they are fine with you making a game with no reference to Game Guru at all. As they promote GG as a tool that you can make and sell games with, I really doubt they would force people to use the standard icon.

There is a difference. Changing the Screens and Icons in not difficult. It's kind of modding. You can do this easily with StyleGuru (you can find it in 3rd Party Tool Forum Section). But decompiling an exe file is kind of hacking. Therefore it is not allowed in germany (where I am) without official confirmation. I don't know the situation in other countrys. But here in germany is a big difference between modding something and hacking/cracking it.

No he just decided to edit his posts which to be honest we find annoying after users have spent their time trying to help and now the the thread makes no sense and is useless ..

Not the best option as users wont want to waste time helping people who do this again

Yeah, sorry about that. I won't be bothering anyone here anymore. I'll remove the rest of my posts soon.

From Steam: " Originally posted by myke1net:
I dont make the specs. i just refer to them. As Lee has stated and others, they want this to be able to run on a wide platform of machines.

But intergrated graphics card, even on my desktop machine, just wont cut it at all. If you buy a machine that was made for business, then it will not run games or 3d apps very well.

Minimum specs are posted on the store page for a reason. Dont matter what other games you can or cant run. This program requires these specs for the moment.

Just want to let you know that this is not some sort of attack on you or Game Guru. I was just stating the situation with me. I do understand what you mean. I'll focus more on other apps from now on. thanks.

I'll take this as don't bother trying, and move onto other things.

Maybe make users able to edit their posts only for about an hour or two? And after that they would need to contact moderator to edit it for them? Or maybe all of that but applied only to new (non-verified) users, something like moderators need to approve posts of all new users?

"We have been taking the product back to the wires for a full performance overhaul.
The next major update will include a new streamlined game core, optimizations for occlusion and new n-core mechanics to take advantage of more of your machines CPU cores.

Could be worth holding out a little longer ..
