Hi folks!
After a slight break I can finally get back to making models.
I haven't been particularly good at making accurate models/replicas based on references before, so I decided to practice just that.
I started working on a collection of weapon models, which will eventually be accompanied by an arm rig with animations for each one.
All models will have 2048x2048px textures with baked ambient occlusion and separate object groups for easy animation (e.g. Frame, Slide, Trigger, Magazine, etc.) .
The first one is an
H&K USP 45 pistol (admittedly inspired by Counter-Strike) with a polygon count of 2960.
It is a fairly accurate depiction of the real gun, with the exception of some missing internal parts which I don't believe to be necessary for a FPS oriented model (as they won't be visible anyway).
Below is a render of the model with no special effects. (not yet imported to GameGuru) . The texture is not yet final, there are some details left to add.
The second weapon is a
Ka-Bar Combat Knife.
The polygon count is 835. The model has a 2048x2048 texture with baked ambient occlusion.
Next on the list is most likely going to be a crowbar (always wanted to make one of those).
Hopefully there is some interest in this.
I would also like to hear what other weapons you would like to see in this collection, aside from the two mentioned above.
Lastly, I'm curious if there is any interest in having a little texturing competition. For example, I provide the texture template for the H&K USP 45 and whoever creates the most interesting texture for it will receive the model for free.. or something along those lines?
