Product Chat / How do we set the character as third person?

I downloaded the new version today and was trying to get a third person to work. I set the wizard down and check his properties and didn't find anything for third person. I checked through the scripts as well and didn't find a third person script there. So how exactly do I go about getting the third person to work? Is probably something simple but I'm not seeing it. The character creators off to a good start by the way!

Put the character on the start green arrow it will enable it has the third person

the only TPV enable character is the character/fantasy/wizard one for now.

I played around a bit with the 3rd person view.

It seems to work well, but two observations...

1) When standing and turning in either direction the turn is a little choppy

2) Noted that I could not look up. For example, there is a mountain off in the distance. I seems to me that while in a standing state, I should be able to look up so I could see the top of the mountain in the distance.

3) Is there a toggle so the player can jump between the 1st person and 3rd person views?

It is still in its infancy stages, and I am sure some other issues will pop up as more user put it thru its paces.

Yes, has been reported that cant look up or down yet.

No toggle yet, Looking in the global.lua file to see if there is anything there yet.

works pretty well but we really need better key feedback for scripting for this sort of stuff
notably holding 2 keys at once doesnt return correctly as far as i can tell (such as when sprinting) and desperately need feedback for the mouse


and looking up & down is a must (as well as allowing us to fire up & down)

anyway here's my attempt at getting the dante beast to work

(video uploading, it's a bit big for my poor connection so give it 20mins)

The trick is:
place: isthirdperson = 1 in the fpe from any character. But you will not get the results you want. I promise

I did it with the combat soldier and it is pretty funny
My dream is to develope games, which makes fun when I create it and fun when other people play it.

Thanks for the info everybody, I don't know why I didn't consider putting the character on the arrow. The third person seems like a good start but it is still a little bit rough. The camera does need to move up and down and on most games when you move the camera left and right when standing still the character doesn't turn with it. I also noticed when you're walking down the hills the camera stays at the top of the hill when the wizard walks down it. It just came out so I'm sure everything will get fixed soon. it's a good start though!
