Is there a way to change the player size? The player feels like he is 4 feet tall when standing in front of doors and walls. An example of this is the door handle of the asylum. When you stand in front of this door you feel like a 4 feet tall.

Unless anything has changed that I am not aware of the Player cannot be rescaled at this time.

I don't think there is anyway to change the height of the player at this point.

There is no good way (yet I hope) to match the scale of the entities to that of the player/camera. This may become possible if we ever get independent control over the camera position.

scale everything down?
should be less of an issue with third person though, should be able to scale the model i guess... depends if he'll start going through the terrain or not, characters are a bit too fussy about their size.

No not everything. Scale the player/camera to be higher.

@Timba:

If the player looks like smaller or larger as compared to any model within the game level, it's not the scale of the player who is wrong, but yes, those of the models or objects.

The shapes or entities within the game must be modeled, based on the height of the player's avatar (reference height) of the game engine, not the inverse.

For sure, there are game engines out there, wherein you may change the player's camera height as well.

Cheers,
Northern

I have to agree with Northern

if you set your height for a door on a particular model then all the rest would likely be out ..
Better to either make the model to the correct scale .... or adjust the model scale slightly in the fpe

It would still be nice to have control of the player camera hight.

With the addition of 3rd person coming soon I don't think it will
this will make things even more awkward in scaling the player .... creating the models to scale is the answer really.

I can't say I agree. If that is the case then why are most of the buildings in the city pack the wrong scale? Most the door knobs and such are almost head height and the city pack is just one example...

Changing the players height should be easy. You can easily scale the collision sphere to the same height. People generally come in all sorts of shapes and sizes so to have a set height that can never be adjusted makes no sense. Matching the height of an in game model for 3rd person is fine and is a good way to go about it , but in First Person Mode the fact is you feel about 4 foot high with many official models. yes, by all means scale them correctly and update them Still it would be a lot less work all round to be able to adjust the height in game (At least within reasonable limits. I'm not talking Godzilla scales here, although I can't see a major issue even then, bar having to alter collisions settings to be more useful at that scale.).

Also a way to type in a scale in the editor would be nice for anyone wanting to scale a lot of objects to different sizes. Currently you would have to write a script to do it, edit each FPE separately, or use the widget, which is okay for some things but not exact scales.

As the media stands at the moment, having a way of adjusting the height would help make it more useful.

Some of these aren't too bad, but still are very tall doors indeed. I haven't had to search for these I just grabbed a couple of random buildings and presto all look too big. The soldiers are also a little short looking compared to them.

Ii was thinking as I said above I did not see much point in scaling the player for one doorknob if other models are a different scale ..... Surely it would just be easier to adjust the odd model that's out of scale slightly ?

Besides looking at Dvaders pics it looks like its not just the player it would have to be characters as well

Well, as an example. If I were to load in 6 or 7 AI into a large city scene made using the City Pack. Which would be easier? Scaling the 7 players up to match all the buildings and adjusting the player height, or scaling all the buildings to match the players? It's a much bigger job to scale the objects in this case.

I just think the option would be nice. I agree having all the objects the correct scale to begin with is best, just not on the actual option of changing height. It would just be generally useful all round. Perhaps you have a section where you are controlling a remote controlled bot that is only a foot high. Or perhaps you are a 8 foot Predator hunting humans. Perhaps you want to simulate using stilts... Altering the player height would be far more preferable in these cases than scaling everything else up or down to suit. It's just a matter of what you want to achieve and the easiest way to do it. Having the option would allow us more freedom and less work.

I can see the advantage as you say for remote bots etc ... I did not think along those lines ..... But ye I can see how the option would be handy for things like that..
