If so - this may help you. Steam evidently uses the network settings from IE (even though you may be using Firefox or another Browser). If you are suddenly having problems getting steam updates, go into your IE network settings and make sure "LAN Settings" is set NOT TO USE A PROXY SERVER.
Once you do this - Restart Steam and your GameGuru program and other steam apps should now receive regular updates.
