I would like too see an overhaul of the audio engine, to allow more than 2 sounds to play at the same time, and a proper ability to alter a sound volume when a player moves away from an object, eg: a generator, that would loop a sound, play loud when near and fade out when you move away.... the 2 sounds at once is a little limiting on atmospheric SFX, I know there are scripts, and they work, but with only 2 playable sounds at the moment, it works oddly. cutting out sounds etc...

If you're desperate for this right now, you can use the Omega Core plugin which has true 3D positional sound so your sounds fade as you move away from the source and you can tell which direction they come from in 3D space. It currently only works with .wav files, but you can also use it to play 2D music. And there's no limitation on number of sounds. You just need to learn how to script loading/playing these sounds in Lua.
