Hi,

Unfortunately all of my character models won't die when shot.
It's not because I can't shoot. The Masked soldier dies in two or three shots.

I presume I'm doing something wrong somewhere in:
1. the importing of 'Masked Soldier.X'
2. the modelling
3. exporting to .x file

I'm using 3ds max 2012 so importing the x.file is standard...

When imported I delete LOD1 thru LOD3 and leave the biped in position.
I match the model to the biped, add a skin, tweak the envelopes and export.

With that information has anyone got any ideas?

Edit:
I used the Masked Soldier Fpe file as a template for my file.

regards,
miki.

Everything you ever want or need to know about characters from FPSC Classic thru now. Are documented here, by Bond1 https://www.youtube.com/user/bond1TGC/videos

Get his exporter for 2012 also, much better then the one that you are using.

Use a regular biped, and then Get this file from this link: https://forum.game-guru.com/thread/209329

Then watch bond1 videos on characters. Look for the most recent one on setting up your biped for bullet physics. This will allow your character to die using ragdoll.

There are other ways of accomplishing this. But this is the guy who made the original zombies and skeletons used today.

This is the expert. Here is the link to the exporter for Max.

cool, cool, cool

and boo hoo hoo

They're all dead.

Seriously, thanks.
My stumbling block was the 'Editable Mesh' instead of 'Editable Poly'

Plus I now used the Reloaded Animation FBX file supplied by TGC.
It comes without a FIRESPOT so I got that from from 'Masked Soldier' and linked it to the right hand. (I'm pretty sure a bone renamed FIRESPOT would also do).

Have a smashing day, and thanks again.

kind regards,
miki.

I agree with Pirate Myke about the exporter, I have been using this one since I started making models and have not had any problems.
HP Pavilion Laptop, AMD A8-4555M APU with Radeon(tm) Graphics HD Graphics 1.6GHz, 8GB Memory, 64 Bit Operating System (Windows 8.1), 1 TB Hard Drive.

I've got something to say - It's better to burn out than fade away.

@ TazMan,

I was using the up-to-date version of 'kW X-port' . I prefer it to PandaX.
Though I did a few settings wrong.
The first image on my first post is the importer .. (looks a bit dodgy).

I think there where two issues:
To export as Poly rather than Mesh.
And using the FBX biped rather than the 'Masked Soldier.x' biped.

thanx,
miki.
