Somehow I feel like I've been here before:

This was after the update 1.013. I haven't rebooted yet, so I'll get back to y'all.

EDIT: That was update 1.00.13. Sorry if that confused anyone. I rebooted and it didn't solve the problem. Reinstalling again. I'll get back to ya!

LOL, It did, and the solution was the same. I just reinstalled it. All better now! It's gotta be the way Steam updates in little bits and pieces (an update only takes a few seconds) vs. installing the entirely new executable. Perhaps it's missing something when it does that. I don't know.

Got this myself the other day, had to reinstall as well, but before I did a reinstall I had a
look in the files folder,..and lightmapper.exe and a few other files had completely
disappeared ,....a mystery.

Hi Jerry,

I saw this happened the other day for you and an uninstall/reinstall fixed it, the same as this update. It is a very odd thing.
From your screenshot it looks like you are mid edit. How long into using GG were you roughly? Had you tested you game a few times?

Any breakdown of what you did before it crashing may help, not matter how irrelevant it may seem (well perhaps "i went to make a cup of tea" might not be helpful I guess).

It's good to know an uninstall fixes it but obviously we would much rather avoid the situation completely!

I should add that my antivirus or anti malware programs did not delete them, they just simply vanished ??.

It was right when I launched, immediately after the Steam update. (Today, anyway) The other day it happened upon launch, but about 2 hours after the update took place. (The other day I had launched several times before the crash as I was creating/testing models)

Hi guys,

Version 014 has just gone live on Steam and it *should* hopefully fix this issue you have been experiencing.

Could you let me know how it goes and check that no extra files are added into the GameGuru main folder in steam. (It should not be deleting any now, I just want to be sure it does not add any either). I am unable to reproduce the issue sadly but I'm pretty hopeful it has been fixed.

This Crash issue for me now for the first time too with this latest version.

I would have no idea about more or less files.

A removal and reinstall seems to have fixed it for the moment at least.

Thanks for the feedback chaps.

If any of you would be willing to test a version to work on getting this fixed, please send me an email (ravey@thegamecreators.com) and I will reply back with information on unlocking the test version.

All, I had the same crash today, on screen I got a message about "defragmented memory". The only solution I had was to overwrite all the files in the root directory of Gameguru ( from backup) and everything is working well again.

@0Alemar0: did try the above solution?

Also have you tried uninstalling GameGuru and re installing?

Can I get your machine specs and operating system please?

Thanks

The first time I experienced the strange screen on an update was update 12. At that time I did the uninstall/install and the problem was solved.

From that time all of the following updates have been successful with no need to uninstall/install.

History: the first time I ever used gameguru I unchecked the box in the welcome to gameguru screen so I would never need to see this screen again.
After my problem update 12 I have never un- checked this box I just close it and then the gameguru editor loads and runs on all following updates.

My thought process here is why are only some users getting the update crash and not everyone. Could it be only those who have un-checked the welcome screen are effected? Sounds silly but the missing portion of the editor when the editor crashes on updates bears a strange resemblance to the missing welcome screen.

Reinstalling seems to be the solution, teamhalo, at least for now! Have you let the newest update install? 1.00.014, I think?

When GameGuru crashes like that there is no need to re-install it from scratch. Simply right click on GameGuru from within steam go to "Properties" then "Local Files" Then click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" This will Re-acquire any files that are missing.

Anyone that has this occur often want to try a beta build to test if the issue has gone? Send me a mail (ravey@thegamecreators.com) if you do please.
