I just tried to make a standalone .exe and it works . I also built it 'Off Line' ( not connected to internet ) . My test .exe didn't have any enemies in it . Maybe you have some missing entity's (assets) .

Try again with a simple , small 'map' , maybe 4-6 objects and just a little terrain editing . Use the stock entity's that came with 'Guru' to start with .

I have the exact same problem!

I think it is something to do with using store media!

I've had saving issues since 1.009 came out. Last night I made a simple two level map(s) and the first time I saved as standalone, it ignored the 2nd map. the second attempt worked, but I lost several entities in the 2nd map. I was just trying it to help someone here, so no big deal. I'm just glad I'm not making anything serious!

Without much information, It could be an issue with lightmapping, were any of these maps lightmapped before the save to standalone? Did you get any error while lightmapping?

Thanks,
Shawn

I only use the lightmapper as a method of self-flagellation! Just kidding, no, I didn't use the lightmapper.

Tried all sorts.... No problems or issues here ...

Im wondering if Umans error was before the update, after or this is the first time he has tried it since release ....
Hope he comes back soon with a bit more history info on his problem

This crash - refusal to save a standalone actually happens since GG release and all versions. As said I reported it a while back in a private forum.

No reason I can find or would know of - nothing obvious - could be anything the condition of the product. Whatever its something to do with GG. People seem to be getting all kinds of different save issues as is typically the case across different users.

The error messages should give someone at TGC some idea as they have info which I would not understand but Lee would perhaps. These screen shots were posted previously as said.

To be perhaps clearer :

The Save Process does not complete and fails quickly so in the GG saved Games Folder not all folders and files are saved and No .exe's created/ecxist. Any other files that the process might miss - which it should not - are of little importance if you can get even the .exe to compile/ save out.

Irrespective of the current issue in saving the .exe the issue of missing files in the game folders itself has been around since well forever and its about time it was sorted.

EDIT UPDATE :

As I suspected I have a good idea as to the reason my game level would not save and its probably correct. My level was using bespoke entities....

Having tried another level with all out of the box entities the save stand alone .exe works as far as I can tell just fine.

I had suspected this as I had heard someone somewhere else mention this might be the case....

OK if you are modding a GG Steam game or only want to use out of the box content as many users may be happy with and that's fine, but of little use if anyone wants to include their own non stock content.

That's great news Uman ..... a lot of issues have been because of this but not so much third party models....
People are trying to use out of the box Classic x9 models meaning they have not updated the .fpe which has changed a lot.

Usually as long as the model is good... The fpe up to date.....Textures as they should be .....then it should be flawless
