There is no specific climbing mechanic in place currently. However, if you angle the ladder enough, you will be able to run up it like a slope.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Jay.

By FPSC classic was it not a problem.
You would expect that with a new engine as Game Guru FPSC this would be possible.
Maybe in the future?

Hi Cram

If I can just add to unfamillia's post...
I have been playing with this...it doesn't have to be a very steep slope either for ladders ( it doesn't look ridiculous )

Just keep tweaking the angle and trying ... its looks and works great ingame

Back when I was making a desert level and lots of pueblos, I messed around with ladders.(v 1.007) I could get away with what appeared to be greater than a 70 degree angle. That was what the player climb angle is by default. I tried adjusting that number, but it seemed to make no difference. Anyway, whatever angle I had was actually perfect and I could climb them with no issues (except getting shot at when I reached the tops or bottoms). They weren't the vertical ladders of a fire escape, though!

or make a tower as shown in the screenshot.

That ladder slope on that tower looks okay. Some (other) towers have an absolute vertical ladder, though, and you wouldn't be able to climb them without a bit of work!

Maybe the player climb angle works now? I don't recall it being mentioned anywhere, but Lee has a tendency to include things without telling anyone! LOL

That ladder looks even steeper than mine! I just tried messing with climb angle. Doesn't work yet/still.

LOL, I just tried that level for the first time out of MP. I climbed that ladder and discovered why I was constantly getting killed! The ol' sniper on the roof trick. Thanks, syncromesh!

I once did a test, got a observant tower from FPSC classic to Game Guru. I climb can but you have to keep pressing the space bar.
just press forward don't work
Keep clicking on the spacebar work to go up
I made a small movie

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HG1NcXBj2mo

Perhaps this is because it is a classic entitie of FPSC

Possibly... I tried the wooden ladder in fixtures to an angle that works great..... but its fiddly to get it just right as it moves so fast using shift + 5

Good; someone mentioned Sunset Island as an example. Also; don't forget you can use the new scale tool, to "stretch" the ladder a bit, if needed. It shouldn't affect the texture much (as long as it's not too long).

Try CTRL + 5 (in EDIT Mode - Rightclick entity - Properties). Notice: this does NOT work in EDITOR mode.

EDIT(OR) MODE >> R(otate),1,2,3,4,5,6 >> Rotate + 45 degrees (Press 'key' once for 45 degrees)
EDIT(OR) MODE >> SHIFT + R,1,2,3,4,5,6 >> Rotate +1* degrees FAST ( Ongoing motion, keeps rotating until you release your keys)

EDITOR MODE ONLY >> CTRL + R >> Rotate +1* degrees SLOW (Ongoing motion, keeps rotating until you release your keys)

EDIT MODE ONLY >> CTRL + R,1,2,3,4,5,6 >> Rotate +1* degree (Press 'key' once for 1* degree)

* 1 could be 2,3,4 or 5 degrees as well, im not sure.

As an additional bit to all this, ladders are on the list of things we would like to see added to the engine.

As a good start point how about making the model ladders pre angled in the editor so they kind of do work as default ?
Just a thought
