First of all, I'd like to say that FPSCR was the greatest! Steam on the other hand I wanted nothing to do with. I have ALL my Dev tools and software are installed in a particular place on particular drives. I refuse to install this Steam thing on my Dev system but now I'm at a lose. I've been using FPSC for years and now I can't use GameGuru because it requires Steam to install and run?

I don't get it. How can I install GameGuru so I can continue my projects that I have so much invested in without Steam. It seems I can't? I have all my games on my gaming system and a separate Development system. Is it possible to "reluctantly" install Steam on my gaming system ( which I have done already ), download and install Gameguru, then somehow move Gameguru to my Dev system? What a mess!

Anyway, I'm a Gold Pledger so I should also get Gameguru for free, right? Then why when I try to download GameGuru it wants to charge me like a non pledger? And yes, I've linked my accounts. How do we get GameGuru?

Did you check for your steam keys to download GameGuru from your accounts page?
They are listed with your purchased products.

This will be the installed folder for GameGuru on Steam.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Game Guru
Then The normal folder structure inside that.

Sorry, man, as far as I know you'll need Steam. (I could be wrong, of course, wouldn't be the first time!) You need a Steam key to activate GG on Steam. They are in your Products page in you TGC account. Only use one! I haven't tried it yet with GG, but every product I own through Steam installs on as many of my machines as I want with only one key. The rest (4) are for friends and family, or sell them. Whatever you wish to do with them.

EDIT: Oops! Myke already solved it!

Yea, I have my Keys and am downloading GG now. However, I don't think this will work for me. It's downloading it to my Gaming system where Steam is installed. My Dev system is accross the room. All my Dev tools are installed on that system ( 3D Renderers, Dark Basic compiler, Graphic Editors, Modelers, etc. ) including FPSCR.

So how am I going to be able to create all my assets? Don't see it as possible. Working on multiple computers getting up and moving every 30 minutes just for Gameguru isn't an option. Oh well....

Just 1 more question..... Why is GameGuru being marketed as a game on Steam when it's a Development tool to create Games? Doesn't make sense to me.

Anyway, FPSCR/GameGuru is great! I just wish the marketing and deployment was done correctly for what it is. I'll give it a chance for a bit, but having to constantly walk between computers and transfer assets back and forth all day might not be worth it.

we preferred GameGuru to be placed into the general games section of Steam. While it's a game maker it also comes with games to play and as we develop it further it will include more games and more complex games. We consider GameGuru more of a sandbox style system like Gary's Mod. I hope this answers your question.

The question about pointing to a data folder has been brought up already. And they are looking into it.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Why are you so against installing it on your Dev computer?\It's a development platform after all.

EDIT: I just installed it on my MAME cabinet PC (my "gaming" computer). It installs fine. No extra key needed, just like every other Steam app. As an added bonus, I just realized I can stream content from my dev computer to the gaming PC through the Steam client. I didn't know I could do that, LOL. Works a treat! (A bit grainy, though, but usable) As far as moving assets from one to the other, if you're developing on one and playing on the other, why would you need to transfer those assets to the other? I don't get it, sorry, I'm not trying to be condescending.

Thanks for the explanation Pirate Myke.

Jerry, yes, GG is a Dev app. But Steam is not. Steam is what I have a problem with. Steam would be a lot of unnecessary bloat on my Dev system just to have GG. Not to mention there are security risks involved with being online with Steam and my Dev system is used for work also on their domain. Our IT department would have a fit. LOL. So, Steam on my Dev system is a no-go.

Anyway, we're getting off topic and I found my answer to the original question. Thanks everyone.
