Hi MooKai,

Your level looks great! We've had a lot of fun playing a Beach level in Multiplayer, I'd like to play yours too.

BTW, to embed your YouTube video so people can click it, just place the video code 3oWZlPx83Cg between

These two tags;

i'm trying to build an island with a beach just as i was told in the thread how to make a beach and after seeing your video i'm going to delete my island and start all over
amazing work, i'm impressed what is possible with the right creativity!

just a question: are all the objects from the entityband of 1.01 or are there some special objects. light and shadows look nice.

Hi,

Thanks Rick, for the help with the video
Yes, sure you can play it, but it's not final yet.
I hope on friday I can add the... the... Zombies

This is already level 19 or 20 for my little game. (an old school shooter need 32 levels hahahaha)
As soon as I've the zombies and when it's possible to encrypt the standalone files, I will think about a release on st... maybe greenlight.
But there's still a lot to do.

@nuncio
Yes, I've only used the assets (Sachen) from the last release 1.01, except 1 thing. The brown stones, it's actually a brown arc.
Which you can download from the store (it's freeware).

Building a beach can be tricky, coz the transition between the sandy beach and the water should be flat and smooth.
Not easy (for me) to do that in the editor. Also the beach and the sand in the water should have the same sand texture.
Not forget to paint the underwater area from green to sand.... or it will look like a jungle river.

That's how I start a new level....

1. an island... ok cut everything around your new island, I mean lower the terrain until you see the water.
2. in the middle green and outside paint sand (don't forget to paint the sand texture in the water too)
3. lower the beach at bit more until it's very close to the water
4. now I paint the grass
5. add some flowers, small plants, stones, buildings, enemies, weapons
6. add palms
7. add the xxl trees
8. test the level and edit the light and shadows.

Thanks all for the comments

The only thing I worry about is... even with a GTX970 I can kill the framerate down to 14, if I use tooooo many objects in a scene.

this video inspired me for my own island thing, thank you! i'm working on this and i'll show you in a few days. it's not as good as yours but it's better than my last try.
i would like to see raptors and bikini zombies, that would be very unusual or bikini raptors.

The mushroom is just a placeholder at the moment, for the end of the level, but maybe I'll keep it

@mexell, yes this is hopefully the beginning of my project.
only have a few problems with the performance...

The fog? You can edit the fog settings when you're in the test mode, just press the tab key 2x and the menu will appear.
Where you can edit all the nice things, light, shadow, fog, grass, water, quality...

reduce these settings could help:

fog nearest: 1
fog distance: 8-10
fog color: mid 40-60
fog intensity: 80-90

brightness: 12-18
contrast: 10-14

M2D; you've got to treat it like a helicopter's controls. WASD will give you directional flight; while tilting ahead or back will give you speed. Then; when landing....think of the old "Lunar Lander" games.

I wonder if Lunar Lander would be any fun in 3d. Actually, I've wondered if any of those old vector graphic games would be any fun if re-interpreted in 3d.
