Another work in progress folks, almost done this one. I thought that I would do a very simple Castle. This one is one piece apart from the Gate, Drawbridge walkway and the Drawbridge Chain.

The reason I did these separately is because of the poly count. Same with the Drawbridge, if I had done this with both chains the poly count would have been enormous.

Anyway here is an image of the gate and drawbridge setup on the castle.

HP Pavilion Laptop, AMD A8-4555M APU with Radeon(tm) Graphics HD Graphics 1.6GHz, 8GB Memory, 64 Bit Operating System (Windows 8.1), 1 TB Hard Drive.

I've got something to say - It's better to burn out than fade away.

Looking good! Those chains do look super high poly! What's the count on them?

Is this bad boy animated?

I can imagine the player getting to the edge of the moat and that coming crashing down with an enormous thud!

Good work!

Cheers

Jay.

Thanks unfamillia the Poly Count on one chain is 8672 and I was thinking about making a version of the Drawbridge animated but that will be later as the animation will be difficult.

And here is the complete Castle:

Wowsers! That's quite hefty!

I would think that the player would run right past the chains without giving them a second glance; so, the poly count seems huge. Have you thought about trimming that figure down? I'm not saying use image planes; as the payer would be too close to them to justify it. Either that or change the chains to rope?

This isn't negativity, just a different view point. Consider it constructive criticism.

The whole castle looks really cool.

Cheers

Jay.

Thanks again unfamillia, yes the chain is quite hefty and that is after reducing the poly's down to 20% (Ouch)
I did think about using rope but I wanted the effect that the chains gave.

Maybe I will offer the Drawbridge with a Rope option though, thanks for the input.

@synchromesh Thanks. When I say simple I just mean for the user (plug and Play so to speak)

High there the Drawbridge has been approved at last, sorry about the wait but there was a problem with AI's walking across it.
