I have has several issues with my entry also. I tend to save often and as a different name mostly as well. Things are a lot better than when the old compo was run issue wise for me. To avoid losing a level, save a backup before doing any major changes, always check things seem okay in game and on the map before overwriting any save. Yes, it's a pain, but as I'm sure you will have heard before, it is a beta and will have bugs and issues for awhile yet.

Do not edit Reloaded files while it is open.
I know it is annoying, but better close Reloaded, edit files, reopen Reloaded.
Looks like last beta does not react well, when you edit his files being opened.
