Hey, I have only recently had this problem wherein when I go to test game, it loads right up until the point of initialising physics and then i get a red screen telling me that Memory fragmentation caused system shutdown and then guru meditation #00000000 and then it exits the test game and restarts the editor.

Please help.

How many entities do you have in your level? LOL, I love that message, hadn't seen it in a while! First time I saw it, I thought it was some new kind of Win 8 error message. Then I read "Guru Meditation". LOL

Jerry Tremble. Is the entity number of the last object placed the total amount of entities or how do i check?

That error message is just one facet of Lee's sense of humor. Some people don't get it, and that's okay. It's harmless, and in the couple of times I've encountered it, it just meant I ran out of memory. Are you on a 32-bit system? If so, the memory cap is 2GB(I think). If you're on a 64-bit system, then you have 4GB to play with, which means you have a LOT of stuff in your level if you're getting that. It freaked me out the first time I saw it, and I even commented on the forum about it, but before anyone replied, I had already figured it out and had a chuckle.

@Jerry Tremble: Yeah I understand it and it is quite funny, I'm running a 64bit system and I have (Brace for it) 2820 entities in my level. It's funny because every time I have a problem and post it on the forums, you're always one of the first people to

Thanks, glad I can help! I'm probably one of the first to reply because I check the forums at least a few times a day, looking to learn something new myself. My computer and phone are almost permanently logged in here! Beware: my answers may not always be right, though, and sometimes I neglect or forget to include vital information. (Sometimes I post after a few beers, lol, then I type away without really putting much thought into what I'm saying and it comes out all discombobulated! Other times, I'm heading out the door to work and only give half an answer with no time to elaborate. I can't post with my phone but can read the forums. ) But man, 2820 entities? I don't think I would even have time to place that many! LOL, You might want to try to split that level up, if possible. Any indoor scenes that you could split off?

You will always need to be aware of memory restraints so this isn't a bug as such, but we are working very hard to reduce the footprint.

i wanted to make a dense forest (on a small island) and i made some trees. and some more. brush + "i" and so i had this big brush with many trees appearing... when i was finished i had covered about one fourth of the map with trees (jungle tree, animated) and the rest of the map was completely empty. NOTHING ELSE!!! i wanted to run the testgame and i also got this message. the editor becomes slow and doesn't work properly so i guess it's out of memory.
it feels like this is not very much before this error screen comes. i had nothing on the map exept for the trees.
i never ran out of memory since i have this PC and i wonder if this is an error or if it was just too much. do trees use much memory? i mean, it's not even a fourth of the map and it's already out of memory?!
is there a way to prevent this or to improve the memory in the game?

btw. this error screen is very oldschool, reminds me of my younger days with my atari crashing
