Don't know since I don't use Unity. However, I don't think that is allowed.

I have renamed the thread as it is was not really indicative of the question.

I wouldn't imagine TGC would allow their models to be used in Unity, but only they can answer 100%. The Unity store is from what I hear, more expensive in general, as there are serious devs who use it and are not so limited budget wise to spend on media. I haven't used Unity much and not in awhile, but I can't see any real problem technically. However, if you do not know, then I doubt you will do much better in Unity than Reloaded. It is somewhat less easy to get a game running than Reloaded and you have to do much more yourself coding wise. Loading objects is the least of your problems when using Unity.

As I understand it, you CAN legally use TGC models from the store in any engine so long as you can manually convert them properly which may take an awful lot of work. From their Terms of Use:

Quote: "(e) Your right to use Assets in Games. You are hereby granted a personal, non exclusive, non transferable licence to:

i. modify Assets and integrate Assets in "Games" (as defined below) created using FPS Creator, FPS Creator X10, Dark Basic Professional, Dark GDK or in other Games; and

ii. issue copies of such Games (and permit others to issue copies of such Games) to the public:

1. for non-commercial purposes; and

2. (subject to the further terms below) for commercial purposes."

You'd have to get the proper converters and clean-up the models for Unity, but I know it has been discussed quite frequently on the main TGC forums. People recommend Ultimate Unwrap as one tool to assist.

Yeah, it's okay to use TGC assets in another engine, but not all assets are exclusively TGCs! Beware and make sure first if you choose to go that route, contact the artist if it isn't spelled out for you!

Hi,

As stated, TGC media is licensed for use with other engines. However, all media must be protected to a reasonable level.

Other store media is at the artists discretion. If you have purchased from the store, then you can use the media in a commercial product developed with Reloaded. Other engines will need written permission from artists and may, at the artists discretion involve an additional licensing fee.

I hope that helps.

I am using some characters that I bought in the store in UDK and I contacted the sellers directly to ask if it was cool. I would recommend a polite email explaining what you want to do and most are willing to work with you. I then save a copy of those emails in a folder in case any questions come up later.
