Wow! That is absolutely amazing! At first I thought, "Somebody is lying." (Not you, of course) Then I thought about it! Yes, it could be done, and like you said, "a great artist with a great engine" (paraphrased). I thought about UV mapping and how it works, and I realized that something like that could be done, by (I think) using the "texture" as more or less a palette and mapping your geometry accordingly. It would take someone far more skilled than I will ever, or wish, to be! I played with UDK briefly a couple years back, and I was just beginning to get a grasp of it when Reloaded came about. I've been in these parts for the past decade, so I think I'll stay here, and perhaps play around again with UDK from time to time!
