Hi All,

We'd like your views on store content direction. We've seen a big leap forward in artist activity recently as well as the amount of points purchased and spent which is a great thing. We're always striving to give you what you want so would like your feedback. If you could spend a little time answering the questions below and adding any comments you feel would improve your store experience it would help us to provide the media you'd like.

1) When and why do you buy store points? For example, every month / When I can afford it / when I want to buy something, etc.

2) What sort of media do you prefer to buy?

3) What kind of media are you looking for? e.g. more weapons (melee, modern, scifi, etc): If these weapons require core engine work, for example, lasers, flamethrowers, still let us know. Would you like more assets related to modern, sci-fi, fantasy, post apocalyptic, vegetation etc. Would you like more characters, if so, what genres interest you... The more information you can give, the more we can focus on giving you what you want.

Many thanks,

SC

would buy more store points to obtain melee weapons (currently unavailable) and projectile types such as grenades and bow and arrow with proper drop. And some post apocalyptic like fallout style entities.

People are always in need of normal civilian types to make virtually any scene more realistic (dependent on era of course). I'm sure most people agree they would be more useful in the long term than zombies for instance. I also think we need some alternate things to carry than weapons. It would be great to have an axe you could swing for either melee combat or chopping a tree, or a pick axe for rocks etc. It would be nice to see more of these tweaks that give a game more options for depth and variety. Also, as there is NO decent explanation or tutorial on how to make anything like this, people obviously tend to need them!

I'm not fussed about more weapons at the moment, we have quite a few. Apart from some sort of flame thrower that uses particles and hence, would be new. Far better to get things we haven't got at all, than add variations of weapons we already have.

I'm always struggling to find appropriate buildings and such for different scenes also. There never seems enough of any one style to make a decent scene, let alone a city. So we could sure do with some non desert like buildings as well. Perhap's some more urban and also some for our woody/jungle scenes so we can have buildings that look right in that sort of setting.

Edit - Just saw the new City pack, lol. Although to make a proper city, we would possibly need more than one pack of course. Still not had chance to look through it yet.

SPECS: Q6600 CPU. Nvidia 660GTX. 8 Gig Memory. Win 7.

Whatever I need at the time. I like props, buildings, sounds, foliage, animated characters, etc.

I really want to see some quality packs for fantasy games. Not just a few props here and there, but full packs for dungeons, castles, medieval villages/cities, caves, etc. And it would be preferable if city/village packs had buildings with full interiors and props to populate them (furniture and so forth). We would need fantasy weapons as well.

Second to fantasy, I'd like to see the same kind of packs for sci-fi such as cities, bases, vehicles, etc. And sci-fi weapons needed of course.

Characters are desperately needed as well. And with Reloaded we need more comprehensive animation sets. The characters need to be able to do a lot more than some of the old classic packs provided. The Task Force pack from classic is a good example of a rich set of animations for a character. Civilian characters in all genres is absolutely needed as mention already. You need villagers, tradesmen, and your standard modern average guy/gal walking around.

To add a character to the store you need to have a decent AI script to go with it. Now, scripting is a specialised skill, and AI scripting even more so - there are only a handful (a hand missing a few fingers!) of people on the forums who can do this. I'm not sure how many people can create models and do AI scripts too - I'm guessing not many. This is limiting the characters in the store.

Well, I'm working on some custom scripts that should be able to work with most custom characters and I'll be trying to get them in the store at some point. Maybe if I'm successful then people can use those on any custom characters that pop up in the store.

Which raises a valid point, till I learn LUA scripting myself I wont be releasing any character models to the store, so it is a kind of catch22 situation.

I wouldn't release a model with basic scripting functions (I don't do basic). Just as I had got to grips with fpi and able to do some pretty good scripts for my characters the language changes so I am back to scratch. I suspect it may be some time before you see many characters appearing the store from modelers who don't already have a grip on LUA and reckon most of the current character models, particularly the upcoming zombies have been scripted by Lee and not the Artist.

A funny thing happened on the way to the forum...

1) I initially bought 10,000 store points simply to have a bank on which I could withdraw on as things came into the store that I really wanted. I have drawn on that a little so far, but will be adding to it next weekend just before I go on a shopping spree. A lot of cool things have shown up as of late!

2) Anything that suits my fancy. The item doesn't even necessarily need to be useful in the near future. If I see potential in something, I will buy it.

3) All listed. I subscribe to no particular genre of media, I like to look at media that is on hand and use that to tell a story.

Edit: Just a thought: Rolfy and tomjscott, both masters of their respective crafts. May I suggest collaboration? Or would that be against forum rules? Or your own personal opinions?

@tomjscott - the problem is that the store won't accept unscripted models, and you cannot buy one of your scripts and sell it with a character in the store (that would be like buying an entity, adding it your own model pack and selling it.) If the store

This made my day :p thanks bud I will try and not disappoint...I have a stack of new models good to go to the store, I have 6 new terrains waiting to be uploaded, just waiting for the triplanar fix to be released and 10 or so new grass types, 4 bridge variations I simply haven't gotten around to uploading them.

as for the topic.

1.Get points as needed...

2. Interesting stuff, modular stuff ....

3. What we need is MASSIVE SCIFI buildings not taking big cities, actually really big and tall scifi buildings...and fantasy.Modern day stuff, Also like to see another billion tree types.

I didn't realize you couldn't upload a character model without a script. Well, that makes things a whole lot different. It seems like it might be advantageous for some scripters and modelers to team up then.

True. I wasn't even thinking about profits when I said that. Maybe they will change the script requirement at some future date.

Hi all,

First of all, in my opinion, the store should have, in a manner quite visible and clear to visitors, how much cost one store point; I mean, 1 point = $ 0.01 or (store point/100) = $ dollar value, because many visitors, especially those who are beginner users or non users of the FPSC- R, but who are visiting the store, they not know what, for example, 50, 100 or 1000 points means.

Myself for a long time, did not know what was the monetary value equivalent to one store point, and I felt lost several times.

No one can buy anything if the person does not know or understand how much the product costs.

Now going back to the thread:

Question # 1: I buy points when I want to buy a particular product, considering the type of game story that I could make a video game now or in the future.

Question # 2: Once again, it going to depend the kind of story that I might create now or in the future, using the FPSC-R or other game engine out there.

Question # 3: I think at this point, since it is very difficult still to use, adapts or converts models from external third parties in the FPSC-R, there is a greater need for more civilians model characters, such as, men, women, children, etc., to be acting as VIPs or hostages (and their respective AI scripts) or even just to bring some life to the game scene.

For example, a normal city scene, without some few people, walking by the city streets, give us a sense that something is missing in the scenario. Of course, it might be exceptions based on particular game play (The Last of Us game, for example), though.

That's it! thanks.

Cheers,

Northern

I think some animals would be a good addition. Since reloaded is based on outdoors type games (at least at the moment) it would be cool to have some critters running around(deer, squirrels, bears, lions, birds, ect). Just like people give life to the urban environments the forest type games feel kinda dead without some wildlife.
