Yes we have a plan for that. When the work on the Character Creator starts (after present modules) we will be designing the character system so you can bring in a model without any animations and then add just the animations you want to the rig. This will keep memory footprint down and allow more control for the game author. We will probably support the common BIP format for animation management which means you can also import motion capture animation files too. Our current character system is being used to set out all the rules we are going to need for our Creation module, and we're almost there with the addition of scripting commands, ragdoll support and different weapons for characters. We might foray into character re-texturing via the Importer but as soon as we know all the pieces of the jigsaw the character creator will be MUCH easier to plan out and develop.
