I seem to recall somewhere there was an announcement that said something about the steam release being targeted for September, but I can't find it for the life of me now. Is there an official steam release date or is it just estimated to be in September? I'm curious mostly to find out how much time I have to polish my comp demo entry for the final release.

The steam release is not officially announced yet and will not be September, internally there needs to be other things done first.

Windows 7 Pro, Intel i7 3.8 GHz, 16GB DDR3, NVIDIA GTX 780 4GB Superclocked

OK, thanks. I don't know why I thought I read September somewhere, but I was certain of it. I remember thinking that was too soon. So, that's good news then. I have plenty of time to really polish up my demo.

I personally feel that even September would be too soon. But that's just me.

Steam is probably a far more judgemental platform than the community, and i suspect Reloaded will have to give speed quite a boost and iron out a few more of the bugs before its going to be ready.

Lee did say a couple weeks ago they'd be aiming for alpha release on Steam in September. I guess that has changed though.

So I'm not going insane after all. Good to know. Anyway, it's good news from my perspective. I think Reloaded should be further along for a steam release and it'll give myself and other comp winners lots of extra time to really make our game demos shine. There is still so much more I want to do with mine that I didn't have time to do by Aug. 3rd.

Based on what we have at this time and extrapolating, I'd say September is a bit optimistic! Perhaps after the new year? That doesn't seem unattainable. I've read the remarks by the Steam community about other wares, and they are not forgiving, even for a WIP. Some here are not very forgiving or perhaps lack the skills to verbalize disappointment shall I say, diplomatically. Either way, I think TGC will know when the time is right and hopefully our feedback is helping!?

We have no official release date for Steam, we'll go for it when we and the community feel the time is right. We've a way to go yet and are missing several features we see as vital (and think you do to).

We'll announce the Steam release in the weekly news/monthly newletter when the time is right.
