I have had this in the actual editor with placing Trees....Athough they only come out as purple showing the Normal maps I presume..
I had to exit the editor and reload then the trees came out normal second time around...

Its happened a few times now but im guessing its down to the same bug ?

Same. Ive tried copying the missing textures over and still nothing. Im not too sure why i would have to copy over my files that are already in the map and use the same entity folder over but none the less. I even copied the entire folder of files over and still nothing.

Please, can we get a hot-fix for this and make sure that all files are copied over?

@All see my bug board thread about files not being copied.

Its been an issue in several releases (for me at least). I think I sent lee an email on this, and I think Dave was working on it a while back, hopefully there will be a fix soon, but not in tim

I am seeing this issue as well and my comp entry is messed up because of it. I'm desperate for a solution and have tried everything so far and no luck. I have one more idea to try. I'm praying it'll work.

This issue has been around for awhile with "certain objects", mostly old FPS media or even some that has been converted in the main. I just manually copy the files across once I want a final exe. A pain, but the entire process I have had fixing issues arising from 1.8 has been a pain to be honest. I don't see an extension at this point. I spent all yesterday from about 11am till about 1pm yesterday checking everything is okay and bug free. Plus a couple hours today, now just waiting for the long upload to complete. I imagine even entries that have the issue, will not be judged on this, as it is a problem with the standalone build process after all. Still, copying over the relevant files has worked every time for me.

I wish for but me it isnt old models and where before copying the textures over worked now does not i wonder if it has something to do with the protection that came with 1.8

Same here. Used to work for me just copying over, but some models refuse to work. I notice that if I copy files over that the engine goes ahead and encrypts those new files on first run, but some end up being black anyway. I know there is a specific blacktexture technique in the shaders, presumably for when the engine thinks it can't find the relevant textures. I just wonder why it thinks this. Especially when the same textures work fine in the editor and in test mode. Oh, wait, I can't run test mode anymore with my comp entry. It just crashes. It works fine in stand-alone mode though, which has now become my only test mode.

I think thats it, why textures won't copy in, the encryption. I've got missing models to now work fully, its just Tree 01.

A few finishing touches for me (Quite a few, actually), a few final bug checks, then upload. Luckily I'm on 98Mb/s internet up and down, so only takes about 5 minutes max to upload

(Be envious )

Actually I go home soon, back to 1.8Mb/s, kill me now

I just discovered that the encryption for copied over files doesn't happen on first run as I thought. I think if the level is saved as stand-alone again then those files get encrypted at that time. Still no idea why they won't work though.

@sparrowhawk, how did you get yours to work?

It just seemed to do it, not like the packer software for classic, the files are still in the original file structure, but if you go into entity bank for example, the entities are all called _e something, and you can't open the textures. I'll update you in few mins when on the PC, but I think thats how its done. Scripts and Music aren't encrypted at this time

Any file with _e in the name is an encrypted file that matches a file in-game you cannot simply copy over the files into the built game any more as the built game will look for the encrypted versions.

True, but if you copy them over and then re-export to stand-alone, it encrypts the files you copied over and uses them. It doesn't help the black texture issue though, but I've corrected some issues with this.

What would be the reason for the black texture issue on files that are copied properly and have encryption? Is there any fix for this or workaround? I and others have tried desperately for days and no luck.

Much as I see encryption is a needed feature, my personal view is that it should have been implemented until the copy errors were fixed, since they have been there for a while. Also, while paid-assets require the most protection, sounds and scripts are still open to be tampered with.

Well I hate to say this, though I'm glad others have had the same problem I did...

Why I say that,,,, because I thought I was going insane...

Anyway, sorry to hear others have had issues with textures..

I would like to thank Next for explaining this _e_ stuff....

Whats the solution to this. how can one make a texture encrypted to then replace???

Or the better question, why did v1.07 build the textures fine and now they dont ???????

MOS Technology 6510, VIC-II, SID 6581 i wish...

I completely replaced ALL the files, models, fpe, images, all of them (specific to the non working ones). Doing that I have no issues. Not sure if they are re-encoded next time I make a standalone, but the textures are there for me.

The 'missing files in standalone' still remains a mystery, and the internal testing team have not found a way to reproduce 100% as yet. Stay vigilant and if you do find a step by step that works, send along, thanks!!
