Thank you . I'v uploaded a new screenshot of a real life book by my Dad which is actually available in a book store called Cassini child. I created it just to give him a laugh really. Figured i'd share the screenshot.

Its good work. I understand how time consuming it can be to create these types of models as you'll need some good graphic design skills on top of modeling.

I think its cool you plugged your fathers book in there - two way promotion

Yeah it get's ridiculously frustrating at times. I flit between paint and paint.net because it does dds.

Oh and i use the image editing tools .net has like blend and blur and stuff just to tie textures in. Oh and sadly my text styles are very limited because paint is just well sooooo basic it's unreal.

But hopefully the program Myke suggested will be a significant improvement to the stone age like painting tools i have at my disposal at the moment haha.

And yeah my Dad was impressed said it needs all the promoting it can get ha!.

I'll be honest those designs are very impressive for Paint. Good job!

Thank you. There are so many layers to contend with but iv made it work and although they look good they are still very simple shapes and a far cry away from some of the work iv seen in store. But experience is everything so hopefully in time my skills will improve to the level of many store designers on this site. So perhaps one day i might be as good.

Why is that?. Who bought one?. And thank you for saying i'v just began work on the main outside wall and windows. So the food making has took a back seat for now so i can start building up my store front, so hopefully ill have a half decent looking building to put my store items in. Will upload some more screenshots when i can.

I bought it on Amazon in paperback. They didn't have an electronic version. It should arrive Monday. Maybe I'll open a book review thread in the "Off Topic" thread when I'm done with it! I have a couple other books ahead of it, so it might be a while!

Iv been working on a store front to go along side my supermarket items, here is my progress so far.

Bare in mind there's still a lot of work to do yet 're-texturing and over-all layout' but the basic frame is there and it all snaps to nicely. Most of the join lines are hidden behind other objects or in case of the walls iv created a lip so when they over lap the join would only be view-able from above and not front on .

Comments welcome.

Looking good. The brick texture is a bit large and needs to be tiled out. Great start.

Thank you. And yeah i totally agree, will be working on that shortly. Everything needs a re-texture really and i'm only currently using a single texture file for alot of my items. So all of that needs doing as-well.

Lots of work.....also i'm hoping you will know but when using a transparent texture 'glass for example' does it flash an image of the background?. I ask simply because in order to view whats behind it i have to place my windows last otherwise the before image still shows up. I have to remove it from the in game menu by removing it from my level and restart fps in order to re-use the glass again, please advise.

Or is there just simply no way round this yet?.

Thanks Wenga

I'v been working on perfecting my building making skills. Here is the result of my relentless persistence. I'v attached several screenshots to this post.

I'v created the building using like 4 pieces. The lower level, upper and the roof and ceiling. It all lines up and snaps to nicely. Just needs outside entities placing like an alarm box, drain pipe etc. I am still however working on different textures but so far i like the look.

I'v spruced up the interior just for effect it's a long way off from the final look i'm going for. I needed to make sure things would fit and still leave room to move about. The enemies however start going a tad mad and repeatably run in to the walls in a bid for freedom.

Let us know what you think.

Those are looking great! I can't put my finger on it as I'm no artist, but something is missing; maybe it's simply the way things show up in the new beta. Anyway, nice work! In the past couple months I've been meaning to work on my own modeling skills but honestly have lost the ambition! Keep up the great work! (btw, the book arrived, and I just might move it up on my reading list. It doesn't really look very long!)

Thank you it's getting there slowly. I've created an alarm box and found a decent looking drain pipe for the front because it was looking a little sparse..

Can't seem to decide on a brick texture, getting it to tile correctly

and still look realistic is difficult. From a distance they look good

but close up it loses a-lot of detail.

Your brick is looking a lot better than mine, that's for sure.
I really like your hipped roof too.

lol
I have been doing the same thing. Using the same texture for multiple items is an old trick for me (being texturing challenged). I really enjoyed using stock textures for custom items in classic.

Thank you i'm glad you think so . And the roof is borrowed from the original fps ww2. And i just joined them together in a modeler. That way i can make it different sizes and shapes so it can remain one object for easy placement in fps. And just out of curiosity what are you working on?. I don't believe you have anything in store, i would be interested to see.

I'v been trying to figure out how to use multiple textures in the modeler i'm using for a while now and it turns out i was just being stupid haha!..

So now i can actually use a complete array of texture's i decided to make a house, looks quite good i think too.

The inside walls are all done to but just in a basic plaster all round. I plan on putting in rooms and an upstairs, the scale is pretty good also, although enemy characters still get a little disorientated when placed inside, i think the floor needs lowering.

It's all one model as-well, so no faffing around putting it together in fps.

Any-who comments welcome .

Hey superdude thank you for saying so. I have improved dramatically now i can actually use the modeler iv got correctly, took some doing i'm abit slow on the uptake haha!.

And available like in store?. I never thought of that, to be honest i didn't think they where that good, so i'm glad you think so.

The only problem i have is i currently use only one texture and have no idea how to create the others that accompany it?. So that poses a particular problem. I'll work it out eventually i'm sure.

I'v took the liberty and uploaded some more screens of my house, showing off the inside just to give a sense of scale. And various angles of the outside. (the items are just placed for display) I am still working on it for example it still lacks an upstairs and the glass texture needs to be more transparent.

I'v added a new screenshot to this post of the stairs that previously i was still working on. I'm still playing around a'lot with textures so the carpet is now black and the wood on the frames is different. Oh and i created a welcome mat . Got carried away.

Hey wenga this is really great stuff, and what do you mean by just the 1 the texture do you mean your only using diffuse map, if so maybe I can help you with normal and specular maps

PC Specs: Windows 7 home 64-bit, Amd 7900 3gb DDR5 graphics, 8gb DDR3 Ram, Intel i7 3.4ghz

Hello Aushadow thank you for saying so, i'm still new to the whole creating models from scratch so there's a'lot of learning that still needs to be done. plus it's time consuming.

And that is correct my friend, i should of maybe explained more sorry. I know by reading online there are 3 currently in use by fpsr a diffuse as you have said, a normal map i believe and a specular. But i am yet to learn how to do it, or what program i would need to create them. Your help would be greatly appreciated .

Another screenshot of the front of my house, i have a-lot of spare time.
