I've begun working on a city scene, and ultimately I'd like to have this scene look good during both day time and night. I've created some special textures for the building to simulate lights in the windows, etc, in order to look like a night scene.

In this regard I'm thinking about how to convert the day scene (Multiple buildings and accessories)to the night scene easily, without having to have a completely separate night time level. I've noted the "Alternate Texture field in the entity properties. What is this used for (or will be used for). Could this be used to make the kind of transition I'm seeking?

Thanks

Hi,

Alternative texture isn't currently functioning, but would do what you want. You can keep up with all of the latest developments in the weekly news

I have added the alternative texture bug to the V1.009 list. Not sure if you should be able to change textures on static entities however as I am about to create some static batching and light baking code which would make this impossible. Might be easier to transport the player to another level with night-time texturing, or use the lighting LUA commands to create colour changes globally.
