Wow!!

The game is cool but, why is too short, well the engine goes to good way, but please add third person and vehicles in the engine, like idtech3, the FPSCR engine looks like more and more the idtech3 engine made by ID Software, if is possible to make third person and vehicles part of the engine, the Character Creator is an another good feature if i like because im not very good with graphic creators like 3d studio max or blender, im simply sucks with that program, if FPSCR will have a character generator, its a good news for people like me, well thats all, and bye!...

Sorry for my english, im speak spanish, but its the best english i khow.

Keep in mind, unimansoftent, Reloaded is still in beta! Every month or two we get a new beta release, we find the bugs, report them back, and in the meantime TGC are working on the engine. It's gonna be like this for a while. They finally have what appears to be a fairly stable engine, so features should start popping in. As for your English, it's fine. You write better than my brother!

sooo

you were actually able to play that game....

I got a GTX 650 middle of the road video card

and seemed to be getting about 3-6 fps , so , for me it looked

like a nice level but was totally unplayable even at the lowest setting.

It took super long to load and then to start and

I have a 6 core 8 gig ram system.

Sure hope there's more fps improvements coming our way in the future

or that I get rich and can afford a video card that will run a real level.

Not meaning to complain at all but LUV to know what system specs

this was designed with.

Thx

UNIRD12B- Lee's system specs (taken from his sig) :Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, Intel Core i7 920 (PASSMARK:5008), NVIDIA Geforce 9600 GT GPU (PASSMARK:752) , 6GB RAM. If it doesn't run well on his machine, I don't think it gets released. He has a horrible video card! I didn't look at my metrics when I played "The Escape", but it ran great on my laptop. Haven't tried it on my desktop, but both of my machines are fairly robust. (specs in signature). Maybe you could email Lee and find out what's slowing you down exactly.

EDIT: Just played a minute of it again, was getting 50-54 fps. BTW, Reloaded is only using one core.

@unimansoftent

The Escape is a demo, not a fully fledged game and is designed to showcase the current features. We plan to expand it as new features get added. Almost of the things you mention vehicles, character creator and a lot more are all planned

I have a GTX770 and was running at a super smooth 60+ fps.

One minor point, how many of you pressed tab to bring up the settings UI? I know I did!

Great little demo, though, there were a few artistic/level designer issues.....a few floating entites and a few cases of questionable entity placement. I did enjoy the game though. My first experience of the Rocket Man was when I shot at a normal soldier and waited around the corner for him to pop his head round (while I was reloading), but, he didn't appear.....Rocket Man appeared! That was the first time I died.....

Rocket Man + Close proximity = bad time

Cheers

Jay.

I thought the opposite, I thought it was hilarious how he fired even when he was right in front of you

I also had fun kiting enemies into a group and then watching the hilarity of ragdoll as I RPGd them.

@UNIRD12B (and anyone else with performance issues) if you go to Program Files\The Escape, you'll find a little file inside called visuals.ini

Once you open it up, there are a few options near the bottom that have to do with bloom, reflections, and sha

Please remember that the engine is currently very heavy on the CPU not the GPU so comparing GPU speeds won't make much difference, instead check what CPU you have.

Also the engine is limited in most places to one core at the moment.

I'm not a user of FPSCR, but I thought I'd try The Escape and see how it went! So far it looks awesome, credit to TGC
If I had to make criticisms, I'd say this - I thought I'd play as a pacifist for fun, and see if I could run through without killing anyone and without dying once - I managed it
Also, the whole game feels... Well, it's hard to put it... A little disconnected? I'm not sure if that's because of the few remaining performance issues, but it almost feels as though the player is in a dream. Both the gameplay and the graphics feel like they maybe need to be a little more crisp, but that's just my opinion!
Finally, just after I managed to get through the gates and the screen faded to black, I got the message 'FPSCR Map Editor has stopped working...'
Otherwise, I think it looks great - TGC have taken a major step forwards with the development

UNIRD12B : Your graphics card is quite decent, so I suspect it's the CPU you have. You mention 6 core, can you go into details on the exact chip it is, thanks! I suspect we need to do some performance work and focus on CPU!

SamKM : Your comment about the disconnectedness is a good one, and I am still trying to put my finger on exactly what this might mean. Do we increase the speed of the weapons, kill enemies with a single shot or is it simply that we need more speed and get to 60 fps across the board? Time will tell I think!

My experience was interesting with the demo level. I thoroughly enjoyed it apart from trying to defeat the second rocket man. It kept spawning me miles away and I ended up running at him and peppering him with bullets about 5 times and he just wouldn't die! Even when I was close to him what should have been a suicidal rocket shot for him seemed to kill me but leave him alive.

@Lee I do think the enemies should be a bit weaker. In real life a shot would send someone flying back (I presume, I mean I've never actually watched a person getting shot in real life) but for them to stand there and take a few bullets seems a little unrealistic. They should die within a shot or maybe two. Obviously what would also need rebalancing for the player is for the players health to be brought a little lower as it's too high. Just my opinion.

In real life, people don't go flying backwards, even when shot with high calibre rifles & shotguns. Only in movies, video games and TV shows do people fly backwards when shot. The FPSCR bad guys seem remarkably immune to headshots, though.

One thing I forgot to mention - when I finish the level, as soon as the screen has finished fading to black, the game crashes with an 'FPSC Map Editor has stopped working' message
