Hi, i have created a rock. It has _D,_N ans _S textures. I've set the entity shader to the highest, but the rock doesnt look "bumpy", just flat texture. I use "entity_basic.fx" for shader. So maybe it's not the right shader for it? What settings or shaders i should use for the rock to look "bumpy"? Below i've attached the screenshot of rock surface

All sounds ok unless the UV mapping on the D,N,S textures isn't right ?

However you already have 7 models on the store so you should be familiar with that ?

I use the same _D texture for creating _N and _S textures. How the UV mappping can be incorrect?

I use Crazybump to create my UV's

The higher I set it the more bumpy it looks...The less makes it flatter...I didn't say incorrect....I said not right meaning as in for rock effect..

The pic below is what I mean....Same texture ...Different setting

Are you deleting the DBO and Bin files each time to re try it...If not it will stay the same..

In the "TAB" menu...Do you have the entities set to highest ?

Just things I have missed in the past

Its worth also noting I only get a good effect mostly from the direction of the sun....One side has the full effect the other looks normal.

changing the skies can make a difference also....I don't think Reloaded has it completely sorted yet

Any chance I can try the rock ?

Sure. I have retextured it. Yes i'm deleting dbo's. The sun really makes a change. Didn't thought about it. I'll post it as attachment.

The file is hudge 100mb. Need to reduce the texture...

From what I can see despite the size of the texture it seems blurred ?
Looks great from a distance but losses all clarity as you move in close....The pic below is one of my pillars side by side at the same diatance with your cave and its only a 512x512 texture but the clarity is so much clearer...

Perhaps the texture is a little oversized ?

You are right. Just been experimenting with making rocks. Wanted to make as good as possible. I'ts oversized really . I use bronze package, and there are few rocks in it. Checked them out and they dont look bumpy ingame either, even with the entities set to highest. When i looked with crazybump my rock texture and other normalmaps looks cool in that program, bumpy and shiny. Dont know why i'm not getting this effect ingame. I've created a cube with a really bumpy normalmap, but ingame it looks just like texture. Are you getting bumpy surfaces? Your wall looks cool...

I try to use hi definition textures not big but really clear ..

The texture below is HD seamless 2048 x 2048...Give that a try out of interest

You might even get away with resizing to 1024x1024

Thanks syncromesh. I'll give it a try. I dont think it will make a difference since i'm painting the texture not applying it. It's all in blender's hands

I used to use crazy bump a few years ago and it is really easy to use, but if you want full control of you textures and the ability to paint further deatils into your normal maps check NDo2.

CVheck this tutorial out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHa-h2S-NNY

NDo2 is the canines sphericals.
