Introducing: Cosmic Prophet Reloaded Collection V1

Version 1.0.1.2

I have converted all of Cosmic Prophet's media from his other post on the old forums to Reloaded Ready.

This Collection includes the compatible entities from:

- Airport Pack 1

- Cosmic Candle

- Sci-Fi Packs 1 to 3

- Country Christmas

- Country Time

. + Cave Kit

. + Desert

. + Snow

- Dark City

- Entertainment Center

- Guard Tower

- Nuke City

- Pirates

- Spotlights

- Trench Kit

Removed:

- Broken Entities

- Incompatible Entities

- Segments

- Obsolete Scripts

- Meshbank (Segments)

- Texturebank (Segment Textures)

- Audio Bank

Separate Downloads

- Texture Bank

- Audiobank

Fixes

- Consistant Folder naming (lower_case AndUpper Case consistency was bugging me...)

- Checked 80% of all media in Reloaded myself, personally, to check it works.

- Shadowfire

Licences

Cosmic Prophet has granted these permissions:

Quote: "You can use this stuff however you like in commercial, or non-commercial projects with no restrictions. A little credit is always welcome. Please don\'t be ignorant, and claim as your own."

Download Links

Downloads are available zipped as individual packs and as the whole files directory. If you have downloaded an earlier version you will have to delete the old files before updating. (Broken files have been removed)

Please browse them here:

Cosmic Prophet Reloaded Collection v1.0.1.2

WARNING

I have checked more than 80% of the media, if you find anything that doesn\'t work, let me know.

Also if I have left in any of the FPSCR X9 signs (show an arrow on entity prior to placing) let me know as a matter of urgency for some reason right clicking on these CAN CORRUPT your save file. If I have left any in unconverted please let me know so I can remove them.

I am working on converting the Community Packs now.

Thanks

After a bit of investigation, I wrote 138 lines of code to do it for me, Batch processes the DDS files to the new(er) naming convention and updates the FPE files to reference lua and only lua

Lost me two days of competition game design, but I really wanted to use some of Cosmic's assets

Thank You Sparrowhawk. Yes, all the media from the community packs is free for any use. That is the main theme of the community packs, all media is totally free with no restriction of use. A gift from the media makers to the community.

It would be kind to read the read me files included, and credit the contributors if you use they're stuff, but it's not required.

All of my other packs are free to use as you like as well, and credit is nice, but again, not required.

Thanks for doing all the work my friend. And, I hope lots of folks will be able to use all that stuff.

Have a great one guys!

Cheers Cosmic

Thought I'd better re-clarify licences etc., before making it live

Links should be up shortly - just got to check one or two pieces (and make my dinner...)

I've written a piece of software to do the conversions, so let me know if there are any big packs excluding those above that you want converted

I may eventually release this [software] to the forums, but I need to clean it up a bit for ease of use. At the moment it also is very happy to over-write media, something I'll have to alter if I publicly release it, since I don't want to be lynched by users who've lost work

Sparrowhawk, I've gone through a fair amount of the media, I believe the blacking out issue is the shader assignment from the original .fpe. Is there a way you can add a function to your convertor to assign the effect entry in the regenerated .fpe files to the Reloaded default shader?

At present you will need to check the shader assignments in each entity you wish to use and assign the default Reloaded shader manually.

Not complaining, Just wondering. I think it would be a useful function.

Myke, I plan to release it eventually, but I want to iron out a few bugs, and make the user interface easier to understand.

Also because of the current code it thinks nothing of overwriting files, so I want to make it a little safe before unleashing it. It may be a few weeks after the competition before its ready. But hopefully out eventually

Hi Cosmic,

Sorry your post didn't appear when I posted my reply to Myke I wasn't completely ignoring you! - I think I'll be able to sort the blacking out issue in the next iteration of the converter - I knew there were a few in there that did that, but my main focus is on my competition entry until Sunday, which packs suffer from that most, is it mainly the SciFi pack? I've been using country time a lot in my current level, and that seems to work

I plan to add that feature to the converter plus:

-->Moving meshes found in the obsolete Meshbank directory to the correct entity directory (and edit fpe to suit) - I've been finding this a big problem in the Sci-Fi community pack - it's cleaner to have them in the entity directory.

-->Supplying default _N.dds and _S.dds files where they are missing (in case the lack of them causes issues later)

-->Converting and wall entities (the ones with the arrows on that cause Reloaded to have a fit) to normal static entities

I may also try and see if I can fix the animations, but I'm not sure how to do this yet.

Also, do you know why there are identical _D.dds and _D2.dds textures? Every instance I've found they are literally the same, so why two?

The good thing with Mega is I can update the files on there without changing the links, makes it a lot easier to avoid broken links and 404 errors

Let me know if you come across other bugs or entities that give the engine a fit! I found one of the overhead lights in the train yard section of Dark City is missing, I should have a fix for that as well soon.

But yeah, anyone post any issue with the conversion they like and I'll get around to fixing them

P.s.: Here's an app screenshot:

The D2 textures were needed for the standard bump shader used in classic.

Cheers for the info
I'll email and ask Lee if _D2 is used by Reloaded at all, my software has been changing them to _d2_D to match the new name format, and it suddenly occurred to me that might be a really bad idea...
As soon as the contest entries are in I'll try and implement a lot more into the converter

No problem synchromesh

All the models are Cosmics, Nickydude and a few others provided bonus content (Audio) for the packs which I also uploaded.

Let me know if you have any issues with anything and I'll try to fix them.

Cosmic I'm working on the shader assignment when I wake up tomorrow Hopefully have that sorted and updated by 3am tuesday

Has anyone else come across any problems in the pack?

S

Thanks to everyone involved - extremely generous. Is it possible to get the pirate weapons to work? The fpe files reference the Gamecore folder, but there are no files there. Thanks again to all the contributors, as well as to Sparrowhawk for sorting it all out.

I will look at the weapons, but I'm not sure of the procedure of converting classic weapons to reloaded hence why I didn't currently include the game core folder, I thought it may cause some strange results!

I'm going to sort out the shader issue Cosmic highlighted, and then have a look at a few things like that and removing _D duplicates

Lee has confirmed both _D2 and _D are the same, and _I are obsolete so I will change my code to reflect this also.

I haven't worked out how to convert Classic weapons into reloaded weapons yet, so (I think) they should work as normal static/dynamic entities.
I saw a forum thread on converting old weapons a while back so I'll look into it on Wednesday and see if I can fix it

To be honest I forgot the weapon pickups were stored in with the entities or I'd have taken them out with the characters until I'd worked out a way of fixing them. Thanks for the feedback, I'll try to sort it.

I believe that is an old FPI from the warfare community pack that has never been translated (so does not exist) but I might be wrong.

Any word on that converter??

Hi,
Yes you are indeed correct, I have not learned enough lua yet to sort the scripts, a hard drive malfunction reset me to square one. If anyone would be kind enough to list the entities which have missing scripts other than 'default'., I will look into sourcing them.

As to my late reply, sorry about that, theres still a bug with mailback and with exams and assignments I don't check through all the threads as often I should

Glad it worked, sorry for my late reply!
I know mega is sometimes tempramental about downloads, best advice (if it ever doesn't work) is to try with another browser. So far mega is the only reliable source that I've come across with large size limits for files, and not one of those horrible 'referral type' hosts.
