I would like to see an improvement to the moving and placing of objects in the editor as it is sometimes murder to line things up i was thinking along the lines of YZ axes and a possible scale

I would love a feature like this, it would go good with a snap-to feature.

I agree the snap-to feature would be great also, they need to do something as this is a big thing i have just seen the amount of people requesting something to sort out the placing and lining up objects its a must.

I discovered a feature in Unity called vertex snapping that is totally awesome. It would be so nice to have vertex snapping. It makes lining up entities a snap (pun intended).

If you mean vertex snapping, here you go.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lRux_rvfLU

Start at about the 1 minute mark in the video. The first example is not too interesting, but keep watching and you'll see how useful it is.

What do you think a combination of a grid with vertex snapping,
this would be great to line up while you are making for example a big city
with streets and buildings.
