Obviously im no programmer and wondered how difficult it would be to include different levels of play when starting the game but I then thought it would mean a lot of work and making maybe the same level 3 times but then I did have an idea ?

When you place a character and right click for the properties there could be an option for ..Easy / Medium / Difficult so you would set the property for that character ...

Now this is the best bit

If you selected easy from the main menu only the characters with easy properties set would appear in the game...If you selected Medium then only Easy and medium characters would appear etc etc...

I wonder if that's feasible enough to be incorporated in reloaded in the future of course ?

Yes, and much more. With a little scripting and variables, you will able to allow the player to choose the difficulty, and control the AI, environment, pickups, weapons and whatever else you can think of. Not only will you be able to control the type and number of enemies, but how skilled and aggressive they are in real time.

I did something similar with the original FPSC, depending on which entrance the player took into the zone (something like Quake) but we will have much more (virtually unlimited) options with the new scripting language.

scripting would be able to change the amount of damage done by enemies aswell im guessing? to fit in with this idea so to speak, or perhaps change the amount of life you start with say?

yh as xplosys said, there should be a way to script it so you can change the stats on entities (already a few place holder type values in the properties but more will be added i'm sure)

hopefully something like a full entity list will be shown in the editor eventually so we can edit stuff like this easier

Just a bit of scripting not too much really.

It was very doable in Classic (as both Xplosys and ourselves have accomplished this task), and with LUA it will (or should) be just as easy to accomplish in Reloaded. Instead of needing umpteen scripts in Classic, we can condense it down to a handful using LUA. Providing the scripting runs a lot smoother in Reloaded than Classic.

There's no problem that can't be solved without applying a little scripting.

The benefit for you guys is that LUA is MUCH more readable, which means much easier to take a character AI script and tweak it to your liking
