Hi

I have create a gate and added animation to it in FragMotion. When I run the animation in FragMotion everything works perfectly, the gate opens and then closes.

I have also got to grips with the adding new scripts to FPSCR so I added a script that opens and closes door systems without a key and tested it on the existing gate in the scenery folder of the entitys. That worked fine.

I then added my gate and tested it, the only thing that happens is it shows the message to open but nothing, it then shows the message to close and nothing happens there either.

Can anyone help I am very new to this so am probably asking some stupid questions.

I've got something to say

I posted this in another thread, it might help
Quote: "

Example for anyone else interested -

If you have a 100 key frames set up, 0-50 could be set for a door opening, 51-100 would be for door closing. Reversing door opening 50-0 will not animate correctly but would close the door.

This would be added to your FPE file -

;anim

animmax = 2

anim0 = 0,50

anim1 = 51,100

If you want your animation to run in a loop, add this line -

playanimineditor = 1

These are the basic settings for any animation at this time until we have more control with Lua, just think of it as one big movie and you need to tell reloaded where all the scenes are."

You might also have add your animation details to the script as well.

See how you get on.

Thanks E30Legend

I thought that this would probably work as I didn't have any anim code in my fpe but when I entered it, deleted the dbo and bin files and ran it still nothing.

When you run the animation in milkshape everything is ok but in FPSCR it doesn't seem to work. Looking closely at the animation in FPSCR the gate is moving a little.

Here is the animation in MilkShape: Click the image to see the video

Tazman, are you using bones to animate the gate or are you just animated the vertices?

I might be wrong here, but, I am fairly certain that animated assets require bones to animate correctly in FPSC.

Thanks Jay

I made it in MilkShape and as far as I know (Newbie) it does do Bones.

WooHoo

I did it my first opening and closing gate with script animating without a key. I got the gate to work. I decided to move to 3DS Max. It took me a few days to catch up to the same level I was at with MilkShape but it helped that the layout was the same.

3DS Max is fantastic it is so much more powerful than MilkShape (Obviously), but I didn't think it would be so much more. The learning curve from Milkshape is not too much either.

Thanks for the help everyone it was much appreciated.

Well done Taz ! 3ds max is indeed very good.

I'm glad you fixed it yourself as it's the best way to learn.
