It would be nice to have the option of rain and snow in your levels. I don't know if it's already been considered that it would give the level and extra depth of realism and detail.

It is being considered and I hope they do it right. We need something more thought out not just an animated graphic hud which I'm afraid we may get. I want something more similar to skyrim which is volumetric in 3D space.

Yes I need some snow for my Ice World level.

I have a wind ambient sound playing but the level don't quite seem right without some snow to complete the scene.

All in good time perhaps.

That is a very nice effect. I am sure we shall get that one day also. GameGuru is still very early in development, and has a lot of featured planned to be added this year.

I'm not a modeler, but I'm slightly familiar with how Blender works and, out of curiousity, would it be possible to make a GIANT box of hundreds of particles coming down like rain/snow and then set this to no collision in the game? With it set at ground-level, it could make fake rain/snow particles?

Similar to Rolfy's lightning dome, but it would be a box that covers the whole level, or at least a good part, like 50%.

Maybe the polycount would be too high for practical use, but it was just a random thought that popped into my head the other day

I've actually honestly considered this though it would require quite the knowledge in LUA of which I do not have.

Basically the box would move with the player, with the player inside it.

However, I'm currently jumping into the Skyrim Creation Kit to see how they pulled it off. As the snow seems to actually move based on which direction the player is walking and which speed. Also they have wind direction playing a roll too. Most likely particles.

Then it seems like real (non-sprite) particle support could open a lot of possibilities for environmental effects?

And I know, this is on the planned list of things, multiplayer is just taking lead right now it seems. I'm sure it's quite difficult for TGC/Lee to make everyone happy with 1,000 back-seat-drivers
