I am creating a Jail Scene and started with a Jail Cell that I am going to grow into a Jail.

I was testing it out in FPSCR and when you look at it there is a line down the middle of the cell that is not on the texture, has anyone got any ideas why this has happened.

/edit, did you copy one half of the model and mirror it?

Looking at it you would think that I had but no, the texture was put on the object normaly. This is the texture used.

As you can see the flooring takes up the whole of the flooring on the image. I am not great with the theory of creating Direct Draw files yet. Is there anything I should look for there. I have heard people talk about the "Alpha Channel"??

I may be wrong here and probably am, as its difficult to see whats going on from the pic.

First glance the only thing i can suggest is that presuming that the cell is made from two entities placed together again which may be incorrect?

If it is two separate entities then it may be that they are not adjoining correctly. i.e overlapping and one cutting into the others polygons? This can cause issues on occasion and moving one slightly can sometimes correct such issues.

Thats all I can suggest as, as said I cant see exactly how things are composed and placed if thats the issue at all.

What Uman said ! That's what I meant, sorry if I was unclear !

I think I read somewhere you was using 3ds max, if you are, use the 'attach' tool to join the two meshes together or you could also use 'target weld'.

Hi guys thanks for the advice but that is not the problem, the floor, walls and ceiling were all made from 1 complete box each as you can see below (hopefully)

And this is what it looks like textured through MilkShape

I am using Milkshape for now as I find it quite easy to use being a novice and all.

I was playing with the entity shader in FPSCR and the problem with the texture only seems to happen when I set it to Highest.

Problem solved

I was looking at one of my other models trying to work out why the texture on that one was ok but the one on the Cell entity had a crease through it.

The only difference was that the Cell entity had 1 map and the other had been put through Crazy Bump to create all the maps it needed.

I put the map for the Cell entity through Crazy Bump and created the _D, _N and _S maps and this solved the problem of the crease.

I love being able to solve my own problems and sometimes just discussing them with others helps with the process

Thanks everyone for your help.
