this post is just a small show case of a island beach landing that I

have been working on while I wait for the next release of the beta.

Enjoy.

Nice scene. Demonstrates our need for better road tools though , it looks a bit rough in places. Have spent a lot of time trying to smooth these things myself and always miss some. Hard to get decent roads done yet in the editor, although the real time editing helps in this regard. Not used it much myself as of late, not worth spending ages with this sort of stuff, as we know down the road it will probably be lost.

Will be nice further down the road when we can get into getting our scenes just so, without fear of losing them.

Is this near the limit of what you can fit in? Or have you more memory left to fill it up a bit more?

looks nice and yes a road tool or better options would be really something but we will have to wait for stuff like that.

in version .45 I could keep adding more and more but in .5 no good

I had to down grade so that I could keep playing with the island map.

your right with keeping a smooth road with smooth hills is

almost impossible at the moment I really want lee to implement a

gradient sculpting tool for making smooth hills and then we could turn them into roads its heavily been mentioned in the future creeps section, along side a undo button

only a matter of time before they catch up and implement some user suggestion's

I guess

The next beta will provide PLENTY of space to add more I have saved a huge chunk of system memory by moving textures to GPU video memory, and I have been unable to run out, even when I add insane numbers of stuff down. As for the feature requests, I do sympathize as they are key additions, but my brain is so locked in on performance, memory and stability that it's almost impossible for me to be derailed right now After GDC we'll see if I cannot be shunted off for a day or two.
