its gonna break down right in the middle of the game and were gonna have to fix it which means....You have to do a toolset as well....

Those rear shocks alone are a right pain to replace !!

We just don't have time for vehicle breakdowns ingame "

Don't worry synchromesh,

Just pull in to the truck shop and get it fixed.

Working on the shop and tools now.

The texture under the ground trailer and on the exit ramp and the fuel tank (white) in the corner have not been uv mapped yet.

The shop will also be free. I'll post it when complete.

Amazing stuff Spotaru !!

If I could just sit down with you for an hour I could learn so much. All that texturing is mind boggling for me ..
I did notice Diesel is the wrong way round on the pump but your probably aware of that

Yes, I am aware it is backwards in the picture. It's a right hand/left hand coordinate system issue. Anything with writing or numbers on it built in blender will be backwards when exported to an x file. I got tired of trying to remember to fix the backwards stuff afterwards, so now I just make it backwards in the first place. Then it will be correct when I export and I don't have to remember.

Sure you could. It's not so hard. It just takes practice and a "never satisfied with the look" attitude. It can always be better.

I started modeling back in the days before shaders. Back then all you had was a model and a diffuse. No bump, no normal map, no spec, no etc. That's how I learned to texture. About the time bump maps were fading away and normal maps were just starting to be used, I had some health and life issues that forced me to quit modeling. I got back into it about a year ago and then when reloaded came out, I quickly found out that the tricks I used back then may not work anymore and I have to learn many new tricks. That's why I switched to blender. I keep building all this stuff and giving it away for the practice and I hope the community can use some of the stuff. I will admit that texturing can be a ....... sometimes. For example: This stupid guard rail took me 5 hrs to get the look right. The bad thing is it was already uv mapped and textures. I just didn't like it and it took that long to get it right

My wife says I'm working too hard on a free model. What do you think?

I would have to agree with your wife !!
The truth is many (including me) would be happy to pay for your models. I would have bought the truck in a flash and was amazed it was free.
Why don't you use the store...You can always put the odd free model up like the fuel pump as a standalone model.

With your ability and efforts I would definitely be thinking about getting something out of it if only to make you build more

I would have to agree with your wife also!

As an artist myself, I want to share my work with the world, but, there comes a time when you need a little something back. Not mega bucks, just enough to show you that people do actually appreciate your work.

You are a very talented artist and have built up quite a fan base with your free models. Why not use your fan base now and try a few models in the store.

Just a little heads up; the store is a bit funny to get used to to. It's more than likely that your first model will get rejected. Its happened to us all, even the likes of Rolfy and Wizard of ID.

Just keep calm, listen to the advice they give you and make the small changes they request.

Keep up the good work mate.

Cheers

Jay.

Still here. Been a little busy lately. I have been working on a new set of models that I will try to get into the store. The first one will be. this one. It is reloaded tested and ready. Only 288 polys. I am in the process of getting it store ready and will submit it for approval soon.

Shot from reloaded:

It is part of a collection I'm working on. (An Air/Vent/Cooling system.) pre completion pics of the system below.

Thanks guys.

The first one has been submitted. We'll see what happens. I'll try to get the rest done a.s.a.p. It took me a few tries to get the multi-layered alpha transparency to work without Z clash issues on the one I submitted. If it gets rejected I will fix it and try again though. In the mean time I'll work on the rest of the set.

I can see the improvements as the thread progressed....great work. As for your reversed lettering issue, I don't use Blender but .x always does this when exported your exporter should have an 'export left handed' check box option.

A funny thing happened on the way to the forum...
