Just a thought but it be interesting if The Game Creators had a chatroom. This would help bring users back on a daily basis I think and keep things fresh.

What does everyone think? I believe it would also give more life to the community.

In the attachment is a pretty decent example of what it could look like.

(noticed my attachment is now gone.. interesting)

I mentioned this awhile ago I think, but got little response. would be nice feature and easy to add, lots of free chatrooms available out there can be embedded into forums.

have fun stay safe

Numbers of active users seem to be at an all time low at the moment across all of the TGC boards. Both at the main site and here. Of course FPSC users are perhaps split across both but the totals overall are very low these days so it seems to me though I may be wrong. Maybe just a sign of general hard times for many and people have a lot of other more pressing things to do, I don't know.

Not sure what difference Chat would make. Users can Chat now by posting. Yes I know the difference as in real time but posting is in real time if two users are online. It only takes a second to make a post if its short unlike mine.

We can Chat in off topic.

Still anything that helps may be worth considering. At the end of the day Live Chat may be down to TGC to consider and I am sure this will be seen and looked at by them. Anything that over-rides post approval may well not be a starter for TGC unless it can be monitored in real time too which means someone monitoring permanently. I don't know if I have that assumption correct or not. TGC would have to consider this I am sure.

"Interesting" may mean open to undesirable posting.

I for one would love to have the chat ability in the site as it would be good to talk to fellow GC without spamming and filling the forum.

well it would be easy to do some kind of irc community chat.

But one would need to create a channel first, anyways it is a good idea to have a chat but currently its kinda to early for this.

You'd get quick real-time answers to basic questions from other community members too. I wouldn't say too early if it includes the entire "TGC" community. I mean that's more then 10 years worth of people.

I'm sure we'd find people interested in moderating specifically for the chat on internals. With the addition of forum mod's having the same mod privileges in chat, once they enter.

This may be a possible change in future but at the moment I am a bit too busy with the main TGC forum updates, this forums updates after that and reloaded development work.

We will see if this will be possible after those bits are done.

Great idea, I would love to talk more with fellow modellers, bounce a few ideas about and ask a few Question but I feel I would be spamming forums if I was to do this currently.

I think this is a great idea. Does a channel really have to be set up or do you just enter #whatever and anyone else who enters that is in the channel? I tried it here and it just seemed to work. I used #fpscr. Anyone want to join me there and see if it works?

Not much to understand really. You simply enter your desired nickname and the channel you want to chat in. After that you just type what you want to say and press enter. That's all there is to it.

That's exactly what I did! A bunch of stuff popped up in my browser (it's been a few days so I don't remember what it said), and I didn't see where to type anything so I just closed the tab. Obviously nobody was there, but anyway, I'll try it again when the opportunity arises!

Initially there are a lot of messages during the connection process. After a few seconds, a fairly empty window opens with a few lines of info stating that you have joined the chat and it'll have your name in a list on the right side of the window. If you're the first one there your name will have an @ symbol in front of it. If anyone else is there then you'll see their names as well. If no one is there, just leave it connected for a while and check back every so often. If everyone just quit as soon as they saw no one there then we'd never get a chat going.
