Playground Modelpack WIP by J0linar

All and evrything you would want or need to create a park/ playground scene

for your Horror to Realistic Levels.

Suggestions are welcome!

I know this doesnt show much since its not yet FPSCR ready but i was thinking that its better to show some progress and to show how things come together.

I hope am not breaking any rules when it comes to posting wip content?!

and some more,

i can`t actually count down how much content will be in the pack itself but it will end up pretty big since i aim to provide all the stuff that you would expect to see in this kind of scenery.

Before Questions arise,

am working in Blender/ Zbrush and 3dCoat

you can expect to get top notch content!

Thanks,

the next one is still wip and will be a destructable doll

Am not sure if i will make different types but i might add some cloth and

hair shapes and different skin types.

At the end you will be able to either place loose parts of it or the whole dolll.

It will have physics attributes - you will be able to shoot it and it will explode into part (at least thats what i plan for the dolls)

@TattieBoJangle

am working in Blender when it comes to lowpoly modelling and for the Doll Base Mesh i used Makehuman to get the proportions right - well to believe that you could simply take and use a Makehuman mesh when making a doll/ is not going to w

Great work!

Perhaps this is a suggestion, make two versions of the playground models, one set is entirely normal (as you would imagine a playground) and one that is broken, run down and grungy. This way the entities can be used for horror/run down games or modern setting games. If you have already created the models to that level, it mustn't be much harder to make them look destroyed.

Just a suggestion, very nice work regardless

maybe will see how it goes

and now what would a playground be without some balls

Of course there will be a court aswell and a playfield and i do plan some soccer stuff aswell with a cage.

Regarding LOD`s

not evry model will have 3 LOD Stages, simply because there is no need and it id difficult to go too low, especially since the model looses quality

The above basketballs are for example

LOD_0 416 Tris

LOD_1 104 Tris

That would be a idea but if we are honest a Rollercoaster Themepark should be its own pack, not only because of the theme but more important because of the amount of assets that would be needed to create something that is reusable without being noticeable.

Who knows i might do a Rollercoaster Themepark pack but for now i want to get this thing done.

On a side note i have plans for other packs, asylum/ hospital/ prison and believe it or not i even have some assets made for those.

so in the spirit of the playground, one more ball type

a American Football

What would a day be without a update, i guess a good one

Now am not sure if it is smart but it is just best to add a school bus to the mix aswell.

This is still wip and i might do multiple variations of it and create some wreckages aswell.

I was working on all similar models all week though with much less poly so not as detailed :/ From everything to the playground to the garbage cans and park benches.

Great work though! Can't wait to see how you'll texture them.

Thanks, thanks

@Teabone ye now you might see how much work is really going into this

but hey - nver give up and always work with higher polycount, this way you can easily avoid problems when you move on to finishing models and as a side effect you can do fast lod`s with the decimate modifier.

I would love to post something new but am not even nearly done, currently working

on baby buggys and tricycles and a red wagon

might show some wip pics later, maybe...

now there will be 4 baby buggys in the pack

even if the pic shows only 3, i plan on making a 4th a twin baby buggy.

and 2 red wagons

a vinatge wooden one and a newer made out of metall.

I know i have mentioned tricycles but am not quiet done with those/ still need some time.

Well after all most of the things am going to show here are wip and am sure it gives others some ideas what they could do with the models once the pack is released.

Sanboxes,

i will make up to 3, that should be enough.

On a side note as i have contacted the tgc store regarding selling my assets in the upcoming reloaded store.

I wont be able to sell those as a pack, that means that you will be able

to purchase assets individually without havin to purchase a whole pack.

Thats good and bad as you may understand that a bundled package might just cost you less but hey the good thing is you will be able to pick up what you just need without havin to purchase a whole pack.

Example if you just want the puppet, you can get it without spending money/ store points on the other stuff.

Anyways am looking forward to the store

On second thought the store philosophy makes it actually easier for artists, well we will see how it turns out.

Todays work or well wip

Now there will be many more fences, thats just a glimpse at what am working.

Great work! I\'m kinda jealous, as I had a similar idea a few months ago. I don\'t have much free time to work on it, but I want to do a carnival scene with games, booths, rides, etc. I have so far made a simple airplane ride mesh that I still need to rig and texture. I also have made a basic booth mesh. Parks make potentially great horror scenes! If I knew how to add an image to a post I would add a screenshot. The button asks for the URL, but the image is local. I figured it out, I think, I now have a PhotoBucket account. Hope this works.

J0linar,

Awesome stuff here. Just when I think you're done, you come up with more ideas. Keep up the fine work.

Jerry Tremble,

Good idea! You'll need to add a little more support structure to those bars though or it'll never pass the stress test.

Brian.

If my post seems rude or stupid, don't be offended. It's just a failed attempt at humor.

hehe thx @xplosys

at the end a playground can have so many things and even the tiny ones are important. I wish we would get some kind of road/path tool with random texture settings for bumpy surfaces.

That would be ideal for urban scenerys.

@Jerry, no reason to be jealous, just be practical if you should

find my models useful then - my mission was accomplished

Now that you are 2nd person mentioning a carneval setting i might consider

doing something along those lines but first i wanna get this thing done and

as mentioned TGC wont take 3rd party developer packages, therefore i will just release the models one by one in the tgc store.

Today nothing new, not that i couldnt show somethin

i just wont

well regarding texturing, am using Zbrushs polypaint along with 3dCoats painting tools but in most cases i will bake the normals and polypaint on the lowpoly and lod models.

From what i understand so far is that 2 lod stages for the most models a

xplosys- LOL, I have been debating adding support to the arms (the picture I'm basing it off of has them) but when I get around to rigging, they'll just become four more limbs to rig and animate! Besides, I've lifted those planes, they're really not as heavy as they look!

J0linar, I will definitely make use of your models! I picture a scene where the kids are playing, you hear the sound of laughter, etc, the camera looks away for a minute, the sound of the children disappears, then you look back at the playground and it's totally deserted, with one empty swing swinging. I saw that in a movie once, can't remember which one, but I remember it was kinda creepy!
