The solution was not so obvious.

Swap your "back" and "front" images and it looks OK to me.

Rather good in fact.

ah! In my tests, the problem appeared to the left and right, and I was thinking to images Left and Right... In fact, it was just the original orientation (direction) of the Player, because the problem was just back and front...

Thanks for help Green Gandalf

For info, I used night.x file (in the "night" skybank) to try this new skybox. The solution to generate an original file.x for these textures is still unknown. I do not despair !

@UltraVox I use a free software program called 'Skies' which was released a few years ago for FPS Creator Classic by Terry Schwarz. It allows you to load your images and then generates an .x file and saves the new sky into the Skybank folder.

I'm not sure if the software is still available but you could maybe try searching in the FPSC forums

Thank you Sleeping Warrior.

Unfortunately, all my research on the TGC website are unsuccessful. The few download links for 'Skies', are long dead.

Maybe someone else will have better luck than me ?

Naturally, it will also check if the format of this old DirectX export is always in line with current needs !

UltraVox - did a bit of searching around the forums and found this:

http://www.fpsfiles.net/viewFile.php?hash=92a266f6756c1ba4991a31e99e1f083e

It's called 'CloSk' and although I've never used it, it looks like a very similar program to 'Skies'

Hope this helps

Why do you want to create a new .X file? They are all the same apart from the images. Just change the image names in the X file and give it the name you want. You can simply edit them in your favourite text editor. Simples.

The hard part is creating your own images in the first place so if you've done that you're 99% of the way there.

I also use the Rolfy method of opening NOTEPAD and changing the names manually, it only takes about five minutes and a brand new sky is born. If you feel you have created a SUPER HIGH QUALITY sky worthy of inclusion into Reloaded, and you don't mind thousands of users eventually using your work, email a shot to rick@thegamecreators.com as we really want to flesh out our sky selections.

Yes Rick, I think you send some skybox. You can already use the one I suggested above. Simply rename the Front and Back pictures (reverse names). I hope you like it ? If yes, I can do more.

I may generate some skyboxes for everyone. However using in reference the night.x file as the .x files i create myself are completely unreadable when opened in .txt. No idea why its all Asian characters and symbols.

What software do you use to read the .X files ? Theoretically, the Windows Notepad and/or WorldPad enough. But I prefer to use Notepad++ because you can set options for special characters in its menus.

I hope it helps...

It's because your exporting to compressed binary, export to text if you want to read them.
