What will be the type of extension used in FPSC:R entities? What exactly is and .x? And what programs can be used to make them?

I don't have a clue about all this. Media is not my "place".

Here, there and everywhere.

*.x-files are the file format for DirectX, a file format for 3D models. DirectX is what FPSCR uses (and the older Classic).

There is a lot of different 3D file formats; obj, 3ds, max, etc.

As far as I know there has been whises for support of other fileformats besides x-files, but I donĀ“t know if that is something TGC will work on.

In the future there will actually be more options for that available. At the moment we just use .X.

Most of the 3D software out there has .X exporting plugins you can find on the net. For myself I use 3D Studio Max and there is one called Panda Exporter that works great.

One sad thing is though that many 3D programs do not support the IMPORT of .x-files, just export

Titantrope, you wondered what program to use. I think the most common are Blender, Milkshape, AC3D... Max 3D you must be a millionaire to afford

But as I wrote, often they do not support the import of .x-files, only export.

If you can find one of the few places that still have some of the old Caligari Truespace modelers, you will have your problem solved. You might try the way back machine.

I very so much love this modeler - been using it for years and years - too bad they went out of business but a lot of users are still out there. If you wish, you can import your models and then change them to a different type. There are lots of people who still have plugins for this modeler.

I hope this helps.
