Hi wondering if it would be possible to set a custom map size for new games.

Code or Code not there is no try!

I see this as a must have. Some levels may be larger, some smaller. So having one static size is inefficient memory management.

Also, if able to set custom map sizes, I would additionally want to be able to "resize" an existing level's map. So if I create one of 2048x2048 and later decide I need it to be 4096x3072 I can simply increase its size and the new area is filled with the default terrain/texture/map height.

Conversely, downsizing should be included and allow you to select the area (preferably mouse selected and keyboard entry for size) with ability to drag the square outline created by one of those methods to the exact placement of the area you want to "keep", and then allowing you to crop to that selection.

That's actually an interesting idea. When creating a new map it would promote you asking you to choose from various sizes.

Didn't Lee mention in one of his blogs he had a theory on how to make maps up to 9,999x9,999 in size? If so that could come in use maybe?

Yes, I think map size options would be great if it helps cut down on resources needed and you have something like a small indoor level.

If I recall correctly several features have been turned off for the public beta. Perhaps this is one of them? Have a look at the files in the textfiles subfolder of the languagebank. There may be some clues about current plans in there - but things can change of course.

Lee will only increase the size once it appears its needed based on the games and scenes people are making. At the moment the maps have been fairly small.

The ability to change the size of maps is needed. A simple map options setting would be perfect. Change the size, skybox, etc...

Only in the imagination, can the truth be found...
