Open a new map and lower the terrain until you hit blue

See attached image.

Could someone tell me how to use the other two buttons. For example, suppose I accidentally create a hill in a flat plain. How would I cleanly erase it? I think it's possible using the last two buttons but none of my attempts work quite right.

Use the flat plane button, height is selected from the centre of the brush wherever you first click it, to remove a hill simply select a flat area then level off the hill. If you select an area that's half way up the hill it will level it off at that height, the third button retains last selected height in memory should you change the brush I believe.

What keys do I need to use to set the depth of water, I have tried the all keys that where used in FPS 10, I am having to dig deep just to see water, pardon the pun.

Thanks

Thanks. That's the bit I'm having trouble with - I'm obviously not understanding how to select a height consistently. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't - and I suspect it's my understanding that's to blame.

For example, how do I select a new height after using the tool? If I click on another location it applies the level tool again instead of selecting the new height. I suspect those tools act like a toggle switch but it's hard to tell at the moment which tool is being used and how. [Yes, I'm aware of the faint text in the bottom left but I think highlighted buttons would be clearer.]
