Wouldn't it be great to create 2.5D platformer games with GG?
I think they would look really good with GG, we can already create top-down games... But for 2.5D platformer games we need some help from Lee.

Lee, I think yo could add/modify that easily without loosing much time... No?
We need the option to fix the camera to a 2.5D perspective, without the possibility for the player to move the camera with the mouse... Maybe could be added to the 3rd person camera options?

2nd thing, shooting direction.
If the player walks right and u press the left mouse button u normally expect that the player shoot in the direction right.
But at the moment if u press the left mouse button, the player turns into direction "north", that's not how it should be for a 2.5D platformer... Maybe you, Lee can edit/modify/fix this easily, I don't know.

But I know that adding these 2 fixes would be a great benefit for GG, we could then create platformer / side scrolling games. GG would be then closer to an allround engine for many different kind of games.

And I guess they (the 2.5D Games) would look really good, with the right assets used.

I was experimenting with this back in 2015 ..
But we still don't have directional fire and a mouse lock to make it a reality

The only person ever to get all his work done by "Friday" was Robinson Crusoe..

Yes, I remember your video. I tried something like this too, but I gave up after there was no cam lock and no directional fire.... Just 2 small things, then we could create 2D games.

That looks really cool even if there's no shooting. Maybe you could still do a kind of free-running game.

You mean like this?

I gave this up at the time as GG lacked a way to lock the camera. This is now possible I believe, perhaps I should tidy it up a bit and let a creation loose for a change

Yes, platformer games with and without weapons. I gave up, because of the same reason, can not lock the camera & don't have directional fire... I hope someday this will be fixed. I don't think that those two fixes/addons would take much time to integrate, but it would open a complete new genre for GG. 2.5D Platformer... Or in Germany we say: Jump'n Run

*as the view field on the screen is limited, we would have a good performance and a lot of things on the screen ( in the scene).

there are a ton of "if ( GetGamePlayerControlThirdpersonCameraLocked() == 1 )" in the gameplayercontrol.lua script. It is also shown in the global.lua script. But, there doesn't seem to be a way to actually lock the camera; even though there is a "SetGamePlayerControlThirdpersonCameraLocked()" also in the global.lua script which are under the segment of "Direct call LUA Commands:". The description for both is "command used by the default player control mechanism." And as I mentioned the "Set . . ." command is in the player control mechanism. Did Lee forget it or was it just not added?

If I remember right the camera lock we have in the player controller works but its not the kind of lock you're thinking of, its not a lock that locks the camera in a set position, its more if a clipping lock, it stops the camera from looking through objects when they're between the camera and the player, its explained in one of the streams somewhere and is an option in the properties tab for the start marker in third person.

My goodness that "Bunny Game" is great... how could this NOT be a "genre" option in GG. So sad, so much additional potential that can't be unlocked!
