it seems that the scenery folder in this pack is now to big for GG to handle, I get the message below when I try to open it now, (windows 10 64bit)

this is the pack

https://en.tgcstore.net/pack/10588

Is there a limit on assets in 1 folder... any workarounds?

What I did was take half of the BMP's, FPE's and .X files and put them in a anther folder with a copy of all of the .DDS files, basically splitting the folder into two almost equal folders. Now I can access those assets with no problems at all, it's definitely a folder size/item quantity limit being hit somewhere.

There was a bug with downloading packs, so everything appeared in the same folder, if you remove the items from this folder that are causing the bug and redownload them it should work fine as they now all appear in their own folders.

I had trouble opening Oldpman's Artists Pack I get the same screen now, GG updated 2 Hours ago and now GG
crashes all time now when I try to open the contents of this pack. I have to move some items manually
into separate folders but just hope they don not get over written with next update. Is there A way to fix this store issue?

This isn't a store issue and will require an engine fix hopefully we can get it in for the next update.

It needs to be fixed ASAP, I have paid for content I can't use.

I could split the folder as a workaround, but every time I do that the GG downloader downloads the scenery folder again whenever I try to download new assets and I have to start all over, it's very frustrating, especially considering it's trying to download over 1000 objects every time, so If I buy a single item form the store I end up having to wait for over 1000 items to re-download before I can use the new one, which means at this time I am not buying assets because I don't want to go through all that downloading every time.

@Belidos: What about copying the whole GG tree to another place, using the standard tree only for downloads, re-organize the files/directories in the copied area, and from then on copy only freshly acquired items to your custom directories there ?

Works for me, although I don't do much work in GG for various reasons.

This also bans the danger of inadvertenly clicking on "overloaded" standard GG directories and losing some work since the last save, because GG will auto-restart (at best) on the occasion.

It's a good idea, but it doubles the amount of disk space used and it's also a little hard to tell which files are new and which aren't to copy them over.

Well, it DOES double the amount of diskspace used, true. For me it's about 30GB, I think, so, nowadays, this is not a lot.

In respect to what files to copy, I wrote a small programm that does the check for me what files are new on the "source side" rom the "files" directory downward,
will create new directory subtrees on the targete side as needed on the fly and then copies new files to the respective target locations.

I'm working on identifying "model classes" on the fly, ( such as "plants" , "trees", "buildings" and so on ) and send them to respective custom directory trees, because
I'm really fed up with identifying what directory / artist "that special tree model I used last week" came from.

I'm also thinking of adding a comment to each fpe-file with the author's name to get rid of the author's name directories on the work side and still be able to identify a model if need be.
