Can you keep the later chapters locked until the player has 'unlocked' them by completing the chapter before it?

This could be awesome for something I need! I was going to remake Impuzzable in Reloaded; and this could act as 'kind of' save feature.

Great work as always S4.

Cheers

Jay.

Just wanted to give my full backing and recommendation on this product. It really works well and can be used for deploying games or demos. It works perfectly with Vishnu Packager / Vishnu Extra also.

I'm not 100% sure how we could do this , the problem is how would we know when they played the level.

But I will think about how it can be done.

Since I was the first one to suggest this whole concept of multi-chapter and how it could work (wink wink), I'll offer the suggested solution again. The game itself is really the only thing that can tell if you've unlocked the next chapter. So, you simply need to have the game write out to a file to indicate the player has finished a level. Your launcher would need to check for the required information in the file as validation to unlock the chapter.

How does reloaded write a file, I'm not sure if reloaded has that feature.

I was thinking you could add a password system.

I suppose as a hack type work around you could have the game reveal the password to the player at the end of the game to unlock the next chapter but this would have to be a temporary work around

You do the file writing in a Lua script such as the win zone for that level. File writing is standard to the Lua language and has nothing to do with Reloaded itself.

A password system could work as well. You'd need to prompt the user with the password in a Lua script such as the win zone script. But you'd still need a file to store the password that the launcher can read and compare and the user would then have to enter the password to unlock a level. Both could work.

Hi S4Real

this is a script I was going to use to set the graphic setting in game, but Lee implemented it into the engine so I didn't bother. You can get the general idea from it, it can read a text file change what you need to and then write it back to the file. Hope its of use???

Would an easier solution to locking chapters be to have some sort of code at the end of a chapter, say a six digit number, and when clicking on the next chapter Multi Launcher asks you to input the code that you 'found' before the next chapter is loaded and ran?

Some sort of 'Input code to unlock next chapter' section inside Multi Launcher, this way you don't have to read any files if you add the codes manually.

Just saying.

That was one of the options we've been discussing. But my question for you is easier for who? The programmer or the player? Yes, it's easier for the programmer, but not for the player. If you want it easy for the player then you use a file write system, which makes the whole thing seamless and transparent to the player. But really, is writing a file that difficult? Scripts could easily be written with some global function calls to write the data.

Any way to allow the user to edit the audio that plays when hovering over the buttons or selecting a level? Maybe the ability to add music too?

FREAKING AWESOME BTW! Thanks for sharing!
