edit: new fishing.lua added which will add a timer so the fish will "escape" if it still gets stuck
i know Gtox's fish move just by being animated, it looks like it's causing issues with the visuals of the script - try the new fish.lua and fishing.lua scripts attached and see if it helps, was some weirdness happening with the fish getting stuck while biting so hopefully it's fixed now

p.s. i've add some fish i made to the original post - not animated though

might add some version of explosion effect for RPGs and grenades next..

Thank you for the bullet hole script smallg. I think a lot of people will love the blood splatter added to the script.

I added some gravity to make it run down the walls. Looks pretty cool.

I'd suggest a slight randomness to the shotgun effect.

The new fish scripts crashes gg. No error message. Also in the old code when in a boat floating over fish this error triggers.

fish.kua:215 att to perform arithnetic on field '?' a nil value

I am using dvaders boat script. I can redisign so you can't ride over "fishing" fish but not sure what is causing it.

it looks like the error is implying it didn't get the terrain height for that location.. is it possible to remove the terrain completely if you dig far enough down? i'll have to set a value if the check fails perhaps.

if the new script is crashing GG it sounds like you have something conflicting with it - i assume you just overwrote the original and don't have 2 copies on the map etc?
can you do a test on a new map just to see if it works for you then

Script works fine in test mode but only says press e to start fishing in standalone. I go to zone without any pole or bait. I go with pole and bait. Both ways it just says press e to start fishing. Pressing e does nothing. E works on boats and other stuff. Fishing works great in test mode even after playing standalone. Not sure what more to do to trouble shoot.


My fault yet again. I added a g_fishscore+1 to your script to use for a hud score display and did not put it in new script.

New script is working with best gear. Will do test with all gear.

edit tested with all gear. Works gtreat with everything. Thank you for your hekp. As for the error I just moved the catchable fish out of the boat lane. The error goes away when you click on it. Are the fish trying to attack?

yes the fish can attack you - if you don't want them to attack but always flee change the part in the init(e) of fish.lua

When in test mode I have the rod but no bait. The rod pic shows up . It still says press e to start fishing but it won't let you because you don't have bait. In the standalone the rod picture never shows up.

So I do a new game with nothing but fish,rod, bait, zone,and fishing lua on a chair. Same thing in test mode eberything works fine but the standalone won't let you fish. It just keeps saying press e to start fishing. Not sure why there is a difference in the standalone unless I am not including something in the compile.

copy over the images folder from inside scriptbank\smallg\fishing to your standalone and it should work fine - if you need it to encrypt the files you might be able to link to them via an image zone which should make the standalone process pick them up automatically

yes, you can't fish without a pole or bait - it will ask if you want to fish whenever you are in the zone but there are checks done in the script which will cancel the fishing - for if you don't have any bait left etc

was asked for a radio script so here it is
change the entity name to the number of stations (number of files set in the sound slots) and the entity health to adjust how quickly the sound will fade in / out based on player distance

updated my map script to include objectives and slightly modified the stock radar & objectives scripts so you can set them to spawn later too (i.e. use the spawn at start = no system - this also means the spawn system works with the default radar if you prefer rather than having it show a dot for objectives that aren't spawned yet)


same set up as the original but i have included everything you need to try it out so just modify it to suit

boat battles scripts


make sure all entities are set to
static = no
alwaysactive = yes
physics = no
immobile = no

place a bunch of decals and cannon balls on the map somewhere nearby but out the way - these will get reused during the game but you will still need enough to start with.

new version of the boat battles that lets you choose whether the player will start in the boat or not and if he can leave or not - currently you can just get out the boat while it's stopped but leaving the boat just dumps you in the water as the boat doesn't have collision, i'm not sure what i'll do about that, might have to do a bunch of checks to find the nearest land but this'll do for now.

a function that will let you check if any alphanumeric key was pressed - i even added an option to allow you to specify if it's case sensitive or not
(i used the g_InKey as it's more user friendly than trying to memorise / workout which scan code you need so the actual end use function is way nicer but scancode will allow you to target the entire keyboard so it's probably best to have a function for both)
edit: new version that will detect correctly from multiple scripts


example usages
(shows the key presses locally and counts the number of times w or W is pressed)

new script(s) for lock picking doors
lockpick script is fully commented but basically WASD moves the picks, Left click to try the lock, Q to stop picking
assign lockpick.lua to a suitable entity in your game (can have 1 unbreakable lock pick or let the player collect multiple as he goes through the game)
assign doorpickablelock.lua (pretty much the same script as the default door but has a small edit to trigger the lock picking) to your doors and define a key name in the key property field so it is locked (the key doesn't need to exist in the map if you don't want it to unlock with a key but you can let the player do either as seen in the video)


anyone have any small things like this they like in other games they would like recreated in GG?
p.s. if you have a project in Max at a later date remind me to update it

any hint on what the error is?
make sure the images and scripts are all there and in the correct place - you can't move them unless you edit the script

well you could use the prone script to hide under a bed... any logic related to being seen by whatever you're hiding from would need to be part of the AI script.

The Timer works great, i add an Trigger Zone and he now shows up when iam on the trigger.
But there is one problem, if i get on the Trigger Zone again the timer is not reset, he keeps counting.
If he once has reached zero then he kills me instantly if i get on de Trigger zone again.
I want to make an outside area timer, when the player goes outside the game location

it's not intended to work with zones as zones can't be always active the timer would stop working once you're out of range.
there isn't a way to pause the time in that script currently, i think having it work with checkpoints to extend the timer would be a good idea though.

bow and arrows scripts
there's a few different parts to it but i included a demo map so you can see how it fits together
make sure your gunID matches the intended weapon you will use (GG assigns this so Prompt(g_PlayerWeaponID) to see it.
use [ and ] to swap ammo type


attachment should have everything you need to test it out, just drop it in your GG folder - any problems with the demo let me know

hold Q and then press A/D to peek to the side or W to peek over obstacles

overwrite your "gameplayercontrol.lua" script (make a back up first) - if you update GG this file will also get restored so remember not to update GG if you are using this in a project or remember to put this script back again

at the top you have 2 new settings for how far the "peek" is
local leanDistSide = 30
local leanDistUp = 20
not sure i will worry about fixing the player wobble (he still thinks he's moving) but if it's a big issue i can look into it.

would be a lot easier to use if we had more buttons but Q was the best one that works that isn't being used imo

p.s. it overwrites the prone version as it requires the Q key logic so prone is not possible with this... i guess you'll just have to make do with crouching or ask Lee to add more g_KeyPress commands

ah i think it's because i made the arrow, i forgot to include it
please try the new attachment (on the original post) and see if it works now
p.s. you will need to overwrite the map again as your one will likely have removed the arrows as they were missing

vaulting script, allows you to climb on obstacles or vault over them etc


overwrite your "gameplayercontrol.lua" script (make a back up first) - if you update GG this file will also get restored so remember not to update GG if you are using this in a project or remember to put this script back again
it requires a slightly altered version of physlib.lua (because i had to add a new function to it based on one of the originals) so follow the same advice for this file too

you will see new settings at the top of the script to adjust the settings, play around with them to suit your game


p.s. this version has the lean logic included too

edit: new version which can make camera look up/down while vaulting

Could enhanced mobility like Titanfall or COD Advanced Warfare be done in the GameGuru engine and if so, how?

and done

remember to back up your gameplayercontrol.lua first

double tap the move key to dodge in the desired direction (or press space while moving if you enable it)

press space again while jumping to double jump

settings for both can be found at the top of the script

HI smallg.. I tried the lean/peek + vault script and it works like a charm ..btw i would to ask if could be possible to MAKE the movement more soften as it is very fast...some way to make it feel more natural...

btwe graeat work like usaulyy and many thanks for your effort with gg scripting..
