Hi guys

Just sharing the new naming conventions for gameguru max media.The new naming conventions make it easier to use the search function as well as grouping entities together, this should be used in future as it will help users and your self alike.

Themed media should have a prefix followed by a subtitle, textures should also have this prefix followed by the subtitle of the texture.Using the prefix is ideal when you have for example have warehouse content and would like all of the entities grouped in a nice little bundle that way you can scroll all of the entities containing this prefix and fitting the theme.

So for example if you have warehouse entities, the naming convention will be as follows.

Warehouse - Red Barrel.dbo
Warehouse - Red Barrel_color.dds (If you have a alternative texture, do not use numerical increments, instead describe the variation in the subtitle and ideally link it with the object variant the user chooses, i.e. Warehouse - Red Barrel Scorched_color.dds and Red Barrel Scorched.fpe)
Warehouse - Red Barrel_normal.dds
Warehouse - Red Barrel_surface.dds

This way if you search Warehouse in the object menu all of the entities relating to the "warehouse" prefix will show up.

If it is a specific item like a building it will be as follows.
Warehouse Building - Red Old.dbo
Warehouse Building - Red Old_color.dds
Warehouse Building - Red Old_normal.dds
Warehouse Building - Red Old_surface.dds

Now if you search either "building" or "warehouse" it will show up on the search results. Making the subtitle descriptive allows anyone to use the prefix and you won't stand the risk of overwriting your files due to none descriptive subtitles.

This new system removes the need for arbitrary numbering systems, i.e. 01, 02, 03 which mean little to the user as numbers, but describing the variant is hugely useful when browsing. As an example, arehouse Building - Red Old.dbo will no longer need to be Warehouse Building - Red Old01.dbo but rather if there is an alternative version of the building you should use the subtitle of the entities to describe it.

It would be as follows.
Warehouse Building - Red Old Missing Roof.dbo

Hopefully, this will assist you with adding or editing entities for GameGuru MAX.

FYI the naming conventions have been slightly updated.

Instead of the old naming conventions
Warehouse Building - Red Old.dbo
Warehouse Building - Red Old_color.dds
Warehouse Building - Red Old_normal.dds
Warehouse Building - Red Old_surface.dds

It has a small change no longer using the "-"
Warehouse Building Red Old.dbo
Warehouse Building Red Old_color.dds
Warehouse Building Red Old_normal.dds
Warehouse Building Red Old_surface.dds
